Rural Banking

The key functions of Rural Banking (RRB) are to contribute to the organic growth of HSBC in China by formulating and implementing the rural banking strategy; ensure all aspects of the rural banking business are managed robustly to achieve maximum profits commensurate with the best interest of the Group, with a vision to build China’s leading rural bank in chosen customer segments and geographies, delivering sustainable growth and profitability. Through our demonstrated business success, we will contribute to the development of China’s rural economy, institutions and people and act as a role model for other rural financial institutions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

- Formulate the local business strategy, and ensure the strategies are managed robustly with the best interest of the Group, with a vision to build China’s leading rural bank in chosen customer segments and geographies, delivering sustainable growth and profitability.
- Manage all local rural banking entities, as an independent legal entity each, and guide their business operations to ensure the achievement of business targets as well as an effective oversight and operation of rural banks through aligned internal control and risk management.
- Acts as the focal point to represent the local rural banks and liaise with key stakeholders at CNQ level, and to ensure the alignment of objectives in formulating, communication and execution of the business strategies at all levels.
- Oversee and assert control of all resources consumed by China Rural Banking, including headcount, premises (both branch network and back office), marketing, technology and operations, and also all services rendered by other support functions.
- Lead and manage the First Line of Defense for the whole China Rural Banking network to ensure strong business control and operations within the defined risk appetite. Cooperate with Second Line of Defense and Third Line of Defense to establish an effective risk management framework
- In charge of all in-country Global Standards and De-risking activities in China Rural Banking business

Qualifications

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

- Extensive senior management banking experience at sizeable financial institutions
- Track record in driving robust business performance
- Strong leadership and influencing skills
- Excellent communication skills in dealing with senior management levels and a wide variety of stakeholders
- Over 15 years working experience
- Bachelor's degree or above with fluent in both English and Mandarin.
