RESPONSIBILITIES
1 Develop and implement Jabil Supply Chain strategies.
1) Develop supply base and Supply Chain strategies that are unique to customer or for
Business Unit Strategic materials
2) Support customer's business needs using standard process where possible and
customized solutions where necessary. Collaborate with Purchasing manager and
SCM to determine the best approach to meet the customer needs. Influence
customer's supply chain strategies to leverage those of jabil.
3) Communicate Jabil expectation to the suppliers. Conduct supplier audit/visits,
certifications, and performance reviews to develop and continuously improve supply
base. Obtain the information on suppliers delivery, quality and serive performance.
4) Lead efforts to improve Jabil SCM initiatives and strategies.
5) Act as a mentor for Purchasing staff in all areas of procurement processes.
2 Optimize overall cost of materials.
1) Quote new and existing materials. Work with Material Quotation Analyst if applicable.
Frequently requote and negotiate to capitalize on cost reduction opportunities.
2) Make sourcing decisions based on overall cost and benefit including price, duty,
freight, flexibility, service, performance, quality, and terms & conditions.
3) Negotiate terms and conditions that protect the best interest of Jabil and its
customers. Negotiate liability terms, special stocking arrangements, and other
agreements that are outside of standard Jabil terms & conditions.
4) Ensure execution of Jabil pricing and terms & conditions agreements such as World
Wide Purchasing Agreement that are negotiated and agreed to by Jabil.
5) Improve sourcing options by working with Jabil's internal resources and customers to
Jabil preferred and / or strategic suppliers to customer's Approved Manufacturer's list
(AML).
6) Analyze and project component purchase prices that accurately reflect the inventory
value for a financial period in Standard Costing process.
7) Provide input to determine Quoted Cost to the Customer that is competitive yet
maximizes the amount of Materials Price Variance (MPV).
8) Continuously optimize MPV by reducing the cost of materials and by limiting
unfavourable PPV / MPV. Work with BUM to obtain customer's authorization for
additional expenses such as premiums on materials or freight and tooling charges
incurred on customer's behalf.
9) Monitor, track and provide feedback on supplier's performance for continuous
improvement.
10) Work with other departments to ensure suppliers support overall business needs of
Jabil.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Senior Buyer / Lead Buyer shall report to the Purchasing Manager.
JOB SUMMARY
Senior Buyers / Lead Buyers develop and implement Supply Chain Strategies and
optimize overall cost of materials.
PREREQUISITES
1) For Lead Buyer, 2- 3 years of Procurement experience and higher education in a
related field. For Senior Buyer, 3-5 years of Procurement experience and higher
education in a related field.
2) A certification by related professional organizations (such as APIC and NAPM), a
bachelor's degree in Materials Management, Business Administration, or an
equivalent.
3) Minimum of 3 years experience in electronics procurement.
4) Strong communication, analytical , and problem solving skills and ability to lead
projects and initiatives.
5) Strong negotiation skills and ability to work well with teams and mentor on
procurement processes.
6) Occasional travel may be required.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1) Maintain a good working knowledge of Supply Chain Management, electronics
industry, supply base, pricing process and strategies, as well as E-commerce tools.
2) Communicate effectively and escalate issues appropriately.
3) Supplier pricing and service performance meets or exceeds SCM expectations.
4) Jabil Supply Chain strategies and initiatives are well implemented and strategic spend
is maximized.
5) Cash to cash is optimized.
6) Meet or exceed and continuously improve on the related DBW performance metrics
objectives
