JOB PURPOSE:
The overall aim of the General Manager EHS (China & Mongolia) role is to plan, direct and implement the Sandvik Mining safety program to ensure safe, healthy and accident-free work environment. This is through the implementation and planning of the environment, health and safety Management Plan, developing the organization culture in line with the belief that in Market Area APAC.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
·Ensure that reasonable steps are taken to ensure all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment compliant with the Sandvik Mining safety management program.
·Drives the ongoing development of the Market / Sales area EHS culture, including focus on effective leading indicators.
·Develops and ensures implementation of the Sandvik Mining EHS Strategic management Plan.
·Plans and implements EHS policies and procedures compliant with relevant local legislation.
·Plans and implements EHS policies and procedures in compliance with Sandvik’s Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations.
·Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in workplace safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
·Recommends measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accident and health hazards
·Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
·Consults with all operating departments in the design and implementation of safety programs.
·Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
·Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
·Plans and implements environmental policies / procedures compliant with relevant legislation.

EDUCATION&EXPERIENCE:
·Relevant commercial EHS and or Human Resource tertiary qualifications coupled with a minimum of 5 years operational (mining or related) experience either dealing with EHS or within an EHS role. Strong safety focus.
·Exposure to safety management systems employed by major mining/exploration/manufacturing organizations a distinct advantage
·Heavy plant mechanics or other relevant engineering industry.
·Extensive technical experience and credibility within the company or industry.
·Minimum 3-5 years experience in training in heavy or mining industry area
·Exposure to training and facilitation will be an advantage.
·An understanding of the mining industry.
·Understanding of Mine Health and Safety Regulations is required.
·Knowledge / experience of any Sandvik Mining product range would be beneficial.
