CAE SENIOR ENGINEER, OCCUPANT SAFETY
Education
University engineering degree, preferably with a Mechanical or Automotive specialization or in Design Engineering
Language skills
- Fluency in English as well as in local language (Mandarin)
- Additional languages (such as Spanish and German) are an asset
Responsibilities:
Senior CAE engineer in Occupant Safety CAE (Adult & Child protection) reporting to the CAE Manager, BU China.
Skills:
? Create and manage Occupant Safety FE models (full vehicle and sled models) for Frontal (FRB, ODB) and Side (MDB, Pole) crash load cases: meshing, assembly, and debugging.
? Excellent knowledge of C-NCAP and E-NCAP protocols. Know-how about other NCAP protocols such as Latin-NCAP, A-NCAP, J-NCAP, etc is an asset.
? Define safety development strategy (from full vehicle to dummy level) and target setting from full vehicle to dummy level: structural deformations, occupant injury levels, packaging requirements, styling constraints, restraint systems configuration, interior component design to avoid modifiers, etc.
? Proven restraint system development and integration capabilities: able to adjust the restraint system components to one another (restraint systems integration) with the purpose of ensuring a performance in accordance with the targets defined for the vehicle, systems and subsystems; minimizing the risk of injury for the occupants.
In particular, the candidate has to be able to:
? Evaluate and assess the occupant performance
? Evaluate and assess the performance of all involved restraint system components (cockpit, airbags, seats, trim parts)
? Provide support for design improvements for restraint components
? Able to perform studies of the relevant interior components to provide valuable information for occupant protection optimization in the studied crash scenarios: dummy position, seat characteristic (e.g. stiffness, geometries), seat belt characteristic (e.g. pre-tensioner, load limiter, belt position), airbag characteristics (TTF, vent holes, generator properties, geometry), interior parts designs as trims, paddings and dashboard.
? Restraint system component modelling and correlation capabilities: airbags (DAB, PAB, SAB, CAB, KAB) and seat belt. Proven ability and know-how of airbag and seat belt parameters and characteristics. Able to correlate the CAE model with component tests.
? Experienced in correlation CAE vs. test at both structural and dummy level (full vehicle and sled configurations). Testing experience is an asset.
? Prepare technical reports and carry out technical presentations to customer.
? Project Management. Able to define action plan (HHRR, CAE, testing) to meet project development targets.
Requirements:
- Over 4 years of proven professional experience in a similar position, especially within the automotive sector
- Expert in Occupant Safety. Experience in structural crashworthiness is an asset.
- Good communication and technical skills
- Advanced level with LS-Dyna, ANSA/HyperMesh, META/Hyperview is a must.
- Analytical and creative skills. Able to share new ideas and provide solutions.
- Team spirit and ability to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
- Customer oriented and open to travel for professional purposes.
