Amazon.com operates in a virtual, global eCommerce environment without boundaries, and operates a diverse set of businesses in seven countries, including Retail, third party marketplaces, eCommerce platforms, web services for developers.
The RBS group in China is an integral part of Amazon online product lifecycle and buying operations. The team is designed to ensure Amazon remains competitive in the online retail space with the best price, wide selection and good product information. The team’s primary role is to create and enhance retail selection on the worldwide Amazon online catalog. The tasks handled by this group have a direct impact on customer buying decisions and online user experience.
Roles and Responsibility:
Manager, Program Management – Retail System will manage a Process and Technology team driving automation and process improvement to increase efficiency and quality for RBS tasks and operation. He or she fosters a culture of change management, providing thought leadership to and influencing change at all levels in the organization. This role reports to RBS China Site lead, and works closely with the sister team in India as well as all levels of management within the organization. The successful candidate for this role will be a fast, clear and independent thinker who is naturally curious about how things work, is metrics and number savvy, has an analytical mindset and has demonstrated leadership ability. This person will need an ability to see the big picture and ability to execute and to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-centric and ever changing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leads and supports process improvement projects at the network level that may have a global impact with 3 major purposes, to improve customer experience, improve vendor experience, improve operation efficiency.
2. Manages and develops program managers.
3. Demonstrates discretion in coordination of project scoping and selection to align with business objectives.
4. Oversees site technology project portfolio, assisting Kaizen Promotion Officers and individual project managers with execution and delivery of results.
5. Work with various internal teams (e.g. supply chain, fulfillment center, system teams) to help drive tools and process improvements that affect vendor management workflows.
6. Identify opportunities and drive resolutions with internal and external teams to ensure reliable and operationally effective flow of products; improve processes and reduce discrepancies; ensure vendor compliances and scalable communication processes.
7. Communicates with stakeholders in all level of the organization on project and program progress.
8. Facilitates and participates in meetings as necessary to facilitate growth and network-wide parity.
9. Represent site’s needs in other teams’ prioritization processes (e.g. gathers requirements, builds case, and partners with software teams to deliver improvements).
Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree Required.
2. 8 + years of experience in of which a minimum 6 + years in managing people and interacting with customers / stake holders.
3. Experienced in Project Management, process improvement and change management.
4. Proficient in written and oral English/Chinese/Japanese Language skills.
Preferred Qualifications
1. MBA is preferred.
2. Six Sigma/Lean certification is preferred.
