Essential Responsibilities

'The cooling Engineer is responsible for development and integration of cooling system for locomotive applications. This will include technically managing suppliers during cooling&ventilation components development_radiator, air duct, and working with subsystem engineers to package cooling and ventilation system on the locomotive. '- This includes identifying and working projects to improve air compressor reliability and reductions in service costs - Cooperate with sourcing teams to manage the technical development of air compressors with suppliers - Review supplier designs and supplier validation to ensure successful project launches - Provide inputs to compressed air control team to ensure that the air compressor can be controlled to meet compressed air requirements reliably.- Integrate compressor packages into new locomotive designs by close cooperation with a multifunctional and global design team - Create FMEAs, validation/verification plans based on DFSS (six-sigma) methodology, and conduct design reviews per the design Tollgate process - Improve compressor reliability by working with engineers and technicians in the field, suppliers, and analyzing data from locomotive control system, & from field removal data - Develop designs & drive ideas for new products to reduce cost, improve performance, & improve reliability of existing air compressors - Report and present project status & results to the senior leadership team - Understand tradeoffs between weight, structural integrity, serviceability, cost, and performance - Provide technical mentorship & project leadership to a global engineering and global product development team to ensure success of compressor designs & to grow the technical capability of the team - Identify technology & innovation opportunities for air compressors

Qualifications/Requirements

'- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college - Minimum 5 years or more experience with at least 3 years of experience with cooling and ventilation system design, calculation and manufacturing experience - Minimum 3 years experience on onsite trouble shooting and failure analysis - Good oral and written language skills in both Chinese and English - Able to travel frequently

Desired Characteristics

'- Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering or other advanced engineering degree - Minimum 8 years or more experience with at least 5 years of experience with cooling and ventilation experience - Experience in new product development of cooling system and ventilation on a system and component level - Experience managing supplier new product development - Experience with locomotive radiator design and manufacturing. - Strong knowledge of cooling system failure analysis - Ability to interface and influence with a multifunctional and complex global team. - Strong interpersonal skills
