Essential Job Functions:
? Write, Qualify and maintain welding procedures
? Write, Qualify and maintain welding techniques and processes
? Set up and Maintenance of manual, semi-automatic and automatic welding processes
? Subject expert on welding and metallurgical interface.
? Perform inspection by using a variety of inspection measuring and test equipment to determine acceptance or rejection of weldments and weld repairs on parts.
? Perform set up, first article, testing and validation of welding processes.
? Adapt or develop inspection set-ups or techniques to check materials, parts and sub-assemblies.
? Assist in the review and disposition of non-conforming material, including dispositions or rework, scrap and return to supplier.
? Identify cause(s) of defect conditions and/or test failures for nonconformance determinations and prepares all appropriate documentation.
? Coordinate and inform other departments of inspection and/or testing status in support of production and project goals and initiatives
? Perform calibration on welding equipment used to support product acceptance
? Promote and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
? May also perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education Requirements:
? Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline. Welding Engineering preferred
? 5+ years of hands-on industrial welding experience.
? Certified Welding Engineer preferred
? Band 6-8 English Reading and Writing

Other Skills/Abilities:
? ASME Section IX (Welding) and Section II (Materials) subject expert required.
? ASME Section V (NDE) knowledge preferred
? Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 97/23/EC) along with welding harmonization standards ISO 9606, ISO 15614, preferred
? Understanding of NACE MRO103 and MRO175/ISO 15156 welding requirements preferred
? CSQL knowledge required
? SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding experience required. PAW knowledge preferred
? AWS Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Chinese equivalent preferred
? Knowledge of Casting (Sand and Investment) and Forging processes preferred.
? Ability to use inspection equipment; such as: Surface Plate, Height Gage, Comparator, Hand tools, Attribute gages, etc.
? Ability to perform detailed review of documentation/certification to requirements
? Ability to apply visual inspection techniques
? Gage calibration knowledge and techniques
? Basic and intermediate shop math; basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry
? Ability to read and interpret blue prints
? GD&T knowledge, use and application
? Interpersonal skills and ability to work in and promote a team environment.
? Software/Computer (ie. Microsoft applications, Outlook, Infor LN, IQS)
? Flexible to accept other assignments

Williams Controls Suzhou was founded in March 2005 which is located in Suzhou Industrial Park. Suzhou is one of the most modern and good to living cities in China and it has a history of over 2,500 years. The size of the plant is 6,000 square meters with two buildings next two each other. There are 33 production lines and 185 employees in the factory at present.

The Suzhou plant makes electronic throttle pedals, pneumatic & hydraulic valves, joysticks, and sensors serving for heavy duty truck, buses, commercial vehicles, off-road vehicles as well as other specialty vehicles markets. There will be new product lines continue to set up in this plant as time going forward.

The plant has a high level of lean manufacturing which uses tools like 5S, one piece flow, poka-yoke, pull system, value stream mapping, U-Cell, visual management, kaizen, SMED, TPM, standardization and etc…This is one of the lean benchmarking facilities among this area. The plant is TS 16949, ISO14001 and ISO9001 certified. The plant was recently certified by Caterpillar, one of the key global customers, as the gold level supplier. It is a good recognition to the team in China towards the way to be the world class manufacturer.
