Reporting to the Structural Team Leader, the Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all client requirements as outlined in the Basis-of-Design are incorporated within the final design documents as produced by the appointed consultants. The Senior Structural Engineer shall also be responsible to ensure the delivery a set of design documents commensurate with the expectations of a high-end, quality-driven international client. As a part of a building specific project team(s), will form a critical link between client, specialist consultants, the local design institutes (LDI) and the contractors.

Role requirements

Communication with client team on a regular basis with a requirement to reporting discussions /resolution of issues

Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and participate constructively in meetings with team members, consultants and local design institute to achieve optimal design solutions

Ability to review and critique design documents as produced by specialist consultants, local design institutes and contractors.

Ability to provide practical and locally acceptable solutions to code and design conflict issues


Education, Qualification and Experience Requirements

? Bachelor degree in Civil & Structure Engineering or equivalent
? Preferably a registered structural engineer
? Minimum 10 years of postgraduate working experience in building design and construction (experience in working in China is an advantage)
? Previous experience in the delivery of high end office facilities in either a design and / or design management role
? Previous experience in managing consultants to deliver to tight deadlines
? Previous experience working in multinational design and/or design/construct companies either based in China or working on China-based projects
? Good understanding of and ability to use drawings and building work specifications.
? Good working knowledge and productive use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Powerpoint, Excel) without support.
? Working knowledge of internationally recognized structural software (i.e. ETabs, STAAD pro etc.) is and local software (i.e. PKPM)
? Working knowledge of 3D software and BIM an advantage
? Self-motivated, and able to lead a multi-disciplinary team to resolve conflicts and deliver coordinated designs.
? Able to train and motivate sub-ordinates.
? Able to communicate with all levels of staff. Good written and spoken Mandarin is essential. An ability to communicate in English is preferred
