Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

1. Work in small, self-motivated teams collaborating with Marketing to determine customer needs and transforming those customer needs into next generation control and communication products. 2. Be involved in all phases of software development from requirements definition to production release following design procedures. 3. Use PC based tools to create functional requirement, execute the concept/code design, prepare for design/code reviews, ensure high quality deliverables according to established documented procedures. 4. Work closely with project leader, electrical design engineers to ensure the product design will be competitive and meet product specifications. 5. Make technical presentations to peers and managers on the details of your design and project status. 6. Receive Six Sigma training and join cross-functional teams contributing to Six Sigma projects improving product quality and team productivity.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related technical field of study2. 5 or more years in real time, embedded software development using object oriented software design with UML3. Demonstrated experience with C++/C and assembly language programming for in a real time embedded environment4. Demonstrated experience with VxWorks, Windows 2000/XP/CE, Unix, Linux, or QNX.5. Demonstrated experience with development of web-based applications (e.g. HTML, JAVA, XML, SOAP, ASP)6. Demonstrated experience with logic analyzers, debuggers and/or emulation tools7. Must be proficient Good written and verbal English communication skills.8. Demonstrated experience working on teams.9. Growth capabilities for more responsible software development positions10. Six Sigma training complete or plan to complete during first twelve months.

Desired Characteristics

1. MS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related technical field of study2. Demonstrated experience developing GE Intelligent Platforms products.3. Demonstrated experience with Intel (x86), ARM, Freescale, PPC, or IBM microprocessors and/or microcontrollers4. Demonstrated experience with Ethernet and network communication protocols5. Demonstrated experience with Fieldbus (DeviceNet, Profibus, Profinet, Genius) network communication protocols6. Demonstrated experience with GE Intelligent Platforms VersaMax, Series 90-30, 90-70, or PACSystems Programmable Logic Controllers7. Six Sigma Green Belt or DMAIC trained
