1 Primary purpose & overall objective of the role (To be defined in only one sentence)
Protect the company’s intellectual assets (patents, copyrights, models & designs) and avoid/mitigate the risk of violating third party intellectual property (IP) rights.

2 Main accountabilities (List key missions : 6 maximum, use action verbs) :
? Work with groups engaged in scientific research and product development to identify potential intellectual assets. (Strategically protect company’s intellectual assets via patents, copyright and/or trade secrets)
? Draft patent applications for filing with the Patent Offices (USPTO, EPO, INPI, WIPO, etc.) and prosecute until grant
? Coordinate management of existing global patent portfolio with Research & Development, Marketing and IP colleagues to align with commercial objectives
? Conduct Freedom to Operate analysis for new products, licensed technologies and company acquisition
? Advise Research & Development, Marketing, Legal and Business Development on IP matters, including Opposition proceedings, eventually under supervision of a more mature Patent Attorney.
? Supervise Patent Attorney’s work if applicable. Create training programs about IP subjects and perform it towards internal clients.

3 Typical experience, skills and qualifications :
3.1 Studies/experience :
- Master degree in sciences at minimum and at least 5-10 years of IP experience in a law firm or the legal department of a company
3.2 Skills and qualification:
- Juris Doctor degree or IP Diploma in China, and at least one registration to practice before the Chinese, US, French and European Patent Offices

4 Typical performance indicators scope and resource accountability:
? Resource accountability: excellent verbal and written communication skills
? Subject matter expert: patent prosecution, patent litigation, opposition proceedings. Trademark as well as Model and Design knowledge or at least an ability to work on these matters will be a real plus!
? Travel: Moderate travel. boMérieux Sites, External IP Agents or the Patent Offices
? Key performance indicators: Customer feedback; PMP; others to be defined
? Key contacts (internal/external) and interfaces: R&D Unit, program and project heads, IP counterpart, Lawyers, Business Development people
