Honeywell Technology Solutions within Honeywell Aerospace currently has an opening for a Lead System Engineer to work within our Air Traffic Management (ATM) Laboratory in Beijing or Shanghai, China. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary global team including professionals from the United States, the European Union and Asia with backgrounds in avionics and Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems R&D.

Our Air Traffic Management Laboratory in China conducts research and development in ATM Modernization concepts. Researchers at the ATM lab:
Work with Honeywell global R&D sites in Europe and US to build domain knowledge in China on foundation sensor and radio technologies in Navigation, Communication, Surveillance, and Radar.
Collaborate with research/development teams of Chinese aerospace industry partners
Harmonize with other Honeywell ATM initiatives, such as FAA’s NextGen and European Union’s SESAR programs to drive ATM modernization efforts in China
Position summary
The successful candidate will contribute to the creation of the technology vision for the HTS Aerospace ATM team and play a decisive role in ATM technology development. He or she will contribute to research and development technology projects focused on avionics solutions driven by emerging technologies. Responsibilities for this position include definition, leadership coordination and execution of ATM technology research and feasibility demonstration. The position will be located in Beijing, China.
The successful candidate for this position will
Work closely with worldwide Honeywell scientists, engineers, marketing and product managers to execute advanced technology research, early product development and Concept of Operation and demonstration initiatives
Develop, integrate and maintain various software and hardware components for avionics systems and/or advanced cockpit simulation environment as dictated by project and demonstration needs
Author technical proposals, patents, or papers.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or above in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
Aircraft system level avionics and/or ATM system domain knowledge
Minimum 5 years’ software development experience for complex embedded system
Strong knowledge and experience of C/C++
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Strong willingness to keep learning new technologies and rising to new challenges
Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin
Ability to work effectively and proactively within a global team and as an individual contributor
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
Additional Desirable Qualifications
Avionics technology/product development experience
Familiar with OpenGL
Familiar with C# or Objective-C
Familiar with Mobile application programming
Knowledge of embedded hardware system
Knowledge of Big Data Analytics
Ability to develop a fast time or real-time prototype/simulation/validation environments
Domain knowledge in air traffic management, cockpit simulation or avionics systems
Operational expertise as a pilot or air traffic controller
Knowledge of standardization framework and certification processes for avionics systems (e.g., ARP-4754, DO-178B)
