职位描述

The R&D Manager leads and coaches an R&D team and their overall programs and project activities that support the CTP division in the Asia Pacific and world wide. Working closely with product management, the R&D manager will lead a team that will develop and execute the new product development and cost productivity portfolio that lead the industry in design, quality and performance. The portfolio will be executed using both internal and external resources as needed utilizing DFLS (Design for Lean Sigma). In addition, the R&D manager will work closely with other R&D and functional leaders to insure maximum leverage of resources to achieve these goals utilizing external sources whenever possible.

The manager supervises staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. He or she is responsible for hiring, training, and coaching employees. The R&D manager is responsible for developing the people within his team and creating opportunities for their development and growth. This includes assembling a development plan, coaching and through regular reviews of their performance and development.

The R&D Manager is responsible for insuring that the company achieves its annual and long range targets for cost, quality and delivery. The R&D Manager must have the ability to develop this expertise throughout their departments.

The position requires excellent focus, high energy and enthusiasm, forward thinking, strong analytical capability, excellent problem solving, the ability to manage change, solid execution and a commitment to help the company meet financial objectives and exceed customer expectations. The R&D manager will be accountable to metrics that measure project execution, portfolio value, innovation and financial impact to the business.

The R&D Manager reports to the R&D Director, Meizhou.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead a team that is responsible for the development of tires for the agriculture, construction, and high speed trailer product lines. The Manager and his team are responsible (using DFLS) for the design, execution, and analysis of product and process development experiments and product performance trials, working with marketing, manufacturing, sales and procurement departments. In addition, he/she provides regular reports and status updates.
Maintain and develop a clear understanding of tire technology and customer requirements to maintain our leadership position. Insures that the team interacts with customers to understand product application and limitations.
Maintains awareness of our competitors, their intellectual property, technology and products.
Provides leadership and a technically challenging work-place environment for the team, establishing strategies and goals aligned to those of the business.
Effectively hires, coaches, motivates and empowers the team for maximum group effectiveness. Utilizes performance management, setting objectives on project execution, financial impact to the business and IP generation. Supervise staff in accordance with company policies and procedures. Coordinate with Vice President of NPD and Human Resources for appropriate staffing levels.

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or other related science
Communicate both written and verbally in English
Five or more years of developmental experience tires is desirable.
Five or more years of successful management experience which includes supervisory responsibility with experience in developing high-performance teams and proven ability to lead and develop people
Proven ability to implement and manage lean concepts and six sigma strategies
Experience with fiscal activities such as staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
Proven track record of driving results and continuous improvement in an organization

Ability to develop long and short term plans and achieve their goals by effectively influencing other functions and R&D teams without having a direct reporting relationship.
Must be able to travel as necessary.
Knowledge of new product development processes, procedures, and manufacturing technology.
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
