Activities in addition for Senior Design Engineer:

· Advice Service Delivery Managers and line management on relevant subjects (strategy, structure, services, providers, organization)

· Involved in creating Roadmap and Vision together with the TI-Architect

· Evaluate existing and new technologies/services (demand, technical, manageability, security and costs)

· Define, control and manage DICT policies and guidelines

· Closely interact and align with TI-Architect, other Design Managers within GTI

· Participate in TI Architecture Board at request of TI Architect

· Participate in Aurora Reference Board at request of TI Architect

· Participate in Change Advisory Board at request of Change Manager

· Create and manage service definitions/descriptions



Responsibilities:

· Design, development and implementation of technologies (services)

· Maintaining and securing the services in line with corporate DICT policies

· Creating/Reviewing/Approval HLD/DD

· Communication and coordination between customers and suppliers

· Continuous improvement of delivered services



· Designing and Engineering in a dynamic organization, requires good communication because of a broad variety of DSM management levels and service organizations as well as BU's.

· Emerging new types of applications continuously demand a new approach and translation into requirements for infrastructure design, - capacity and - services.

· Design of infrastructure architecture and services has to deal with many aspects: compliance with IT- & Security policy, manageability of services to be developed, integration with other IT-services, Total Cost of Ownership optimisation.

· Dealing with emerging technologies in an efficient and effective way and keeping in pace with fast changing technologies is a big challenge, e.g. identify possible benefits for businesses, select and invest in technologies beneficial for DSM and avoid investing in hypes.

· The Design engineer can integrate various technologies, services and applications to a certain level/ This process is intense and growing.

· Integrating newly acquired businesses into and disentangling current businesses from DICT infrastructure are complex projects, because a possibly large gap in policies, architecture, infrastructure and services has to be bridged in a relatively short period.

· Multi-provider policy of DSM may lead to complex end-to-end solutions with special attention to manage and therefore poses constraints on the degrees of freedom of the design of infrastructure and services.

· Omissions in services and lack of overall DSM IT knowledge with current service providers are complicating factors in design activities.

· The Design Engineer is involved in regular development and designing of services and in addition participating in projects, like carve out and integration, new applications etc.




Responsibilities in addition for Senior Design Engineer:

· Safeguard TI technologies are integrated and aligned

Selection of proper technologies and advising on adequate service providers to provide services

· required by the business

· Monitor and evaluate quality of services



Requirements:

· Supports the design manager (CAB/Ref. Board/keep track on QD docs) or TI Architects

· Has a learning attitude and can adapt to changes in demand and technology that needs to be applied. He can tackle new areas

· Makes recommendations in several areas (Innovation and development)

· Uses initiative

· HBO level/skills (like MCITP, CCNA, CCIE)

· Can communicate and collaborate with internal or external customers to create the solution or the result.



Requirements in addition for Senior Design Engineer:

Can work on most levels of areas unsupervised and requires minimal guidance from the Design Manager
Is technical counterpart for the Design Manager
He can be of assistance and guidance to other design engineers. (can guide lower grades)
Fullfills a critical DSM ICT function regarding knowledge about DSM and Design services
Someone who knows a wide range of the business area's or is a specialist in an area
Is able to develop/design larger projects
Can coordinate activities when delegated by the design manager
Senior level is an "elite" status, only a few people needed
Required Level of Experience:



· Experience in technical ICT

· Generic Design engineering: 3-5 years, Senior Design engineer: > 8 years.

· In depth and thorough knowledge and experience in the technologies within the scope of the GTI departments. Generic knowledge of IT infrastructure

· Knowledge of ITIL service management, procedures and processes

· In depth knowledge and experience of all used hard and software components.

· Knowledge and experience of design principles within the scope of the competence center

· Knowledge and experience of change management and development methods

· Knowledge and experience with respect to the roll out of the designs within large environments.

· Experience in VIP support / handling.

· Can work in an international ICT environment and is able to collaborate with colleagues or customers from different cultures.
