1. Job Details
Job title: Solutions Design Manager
Department: BD
This role, reporting to a senior manager solutions design, has the responsibility to provide the customer facing expertise in solution design and lead the project internally; work with the Business Development Manager to understand the detailed customer requirements and create initial solution blueprint. Be the interface between Solution Design Engineers, Business Development Managers, other CEVA departments, and the customer in support of the Business Development Contract Logistics Sales process for Greater China.
2. Job Purpose
Primary purpose of the role:
? Leading projects to create engineered solutions in response to customer requirements and internal optimization projects. Typically these involve warehouse design, transport design, and/or supply chain (re)design
3. Key Accountabilities
The main responsibility of the solutions design manager:
? Manage projects to develop solutions in response to customer requirements for CL in greater China
? Take overall accountability for the outcomes of the solution design process (design, costing, risk mitigation, proposal, sign-off)
? Define and agree the scope and timing of the proposal with the client
? Conduct business requirement workshops, align with operations and IS&S on the proposed solution
? Lead Solution Design Engineers in the detailed development of solutions
? Prepare business proposals (internal approvals and customer documentation)
? Liaise with Business Development Manager/Key Account Manager on issues relating to proposal development and escalation to the steering committee as required
? Identify and mitigate risks in the proposals (both operationally and commercially)
? Ensure compliance of all submissions to CEVA business rules
? Organize internal sign of meetings
? Present solution to the client and internal senior management
? Develop skills and capabilities of solutions design engineers
? Support the BD team by attending sales calls to promote CEVA’s contract logistics capabilities and influencing the customers’ decision making
? Work with operations managers to identify growth opportunities, leveraging our core capabilities
? Lead internal improvement projects
4. Organizational Context
The solutions design manager reports to the senior manager solutions design.
The solutions design manager has solutions design engineers reporting to him/her on a project basis.
5. Key Working Relationships
On a day-to-day basis the solutions design manager primarily works with the project team. Other working relationships include, but are not limited to:
? Customers
? Business Development Managers
? Operations Managers
? Finance Managers
? IS&S department
? Suppliers (Mainly MHE, Rack, IT systems)
? ZDS team (implementation team)
? Senior CEVA management (sub-regional, country)
? Asia Pacific Solutions Design team
6. Knowledge, Experience & Skills
The knowledge, experience and skills required to undertake the level at a fully competent level:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering;
Able to read, write and speak English fluently
Masters degree in one of the aforementioned topics
Experience 3-7 years experience in logistics and supply chain, consulting, and/or manufacturing where a detailed knowledge of warehousing and transportation has been obtained.
Project management experience is a must
Customer facing roles (consulting, Business Development) preferred
7. Specialist Knowledge & Skills
Project management, warehousing, transportation, supply chain design, industrial engineering, manufacturing
Able to evaluate technical solutions, their commercial impact and risks
Strong working knowledge of MS office, specifically Excel and Powerpoint Knowledge of supply chain design software, or similar.
Knowledge of warehouse design
Working knowledge of WMS and/or TMS systems is preferred
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Able and willing to lead a multi disciplinary team
Ambition to grow knowledge of team members and other colleagues
Can do mentality and positive attitude
Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and make formal presentations in meetings and training environments
