General Description:
Provide technical leadership, support, and direction for complex projects on new product launches and existing product line customer changes. The engineer will be assigned to drive continuous improvement in product quality, cost, technology, and on-time delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
The incumbent's job responsibilities necessitate communication with a wide variety of individuals. Program and project work will require contact with Program Management, Production Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, Manufacturing Engineering peers, Advanced Product Engineering personnel, Tooling, Sales personnel and outside suppliers. The incumbent consults with the Program Manager and functional manager on unusual problems and developments.
The incumbent applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. A continuing awareness of existing technology within the incumbent's area of specialty must be maintained through exposure to professional journals and attendance at trade shows, benchmarking and cross functional exposure with the Global Manufacturing Engineering Group.
1. Investigate, evaluate, and implement strategies to provide manufacturing process solutions to meet production quality and economic requirements.
2. Coordinate input and formulate manufacturing methods for changes in processing of existing products and implementation of new products.
3. Initiate or coordinate tests aimed at defining or determining problems related to equipment and process performance.
4. Measure, calculate, and monitor the degree or control attainable with the processes.
5. Assist in the direction and training or production support personnel in the use of process parameters and related equipment.
6. Maintain technical records and data on process and equipment and communicate same for maintenance or process capability.
7. Use project management skills to implement turnkey programs for new equipment/line installation.
8. Utilize SPC knowledge to identify and eliminate quality issues as they arise and to design quality into new systems.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Engineering
3 - 5 years experience
Discretion is required due to exposure to plant processes and manufacturing IP.
Knowledge of current practices in the field of machining is required to assist in the direction and training of supporting personnel.
Experience with CNC machining required, experience with MQL / dry machining is preferred.
Basic knowledge of cutting tools is required.
Basic knowledge of fixture design for machining centers is required.
Knowledge of and experience with standard CNC (G-code) programming is required.
Statistical process control knowledge and experience preferred.
English (verbal) conversational skills are necessary
Knowledge of the following is preferred:
Pokayoke
Inspection methods and gages
Cell design and line balancing
VSA / VSM
Standard Windows based applications
