Purpose of the position
— Effective Product Management for Manufacturing Industries - drive profitable growth of Industrial Products through manufacturing processes (e.g. automation, semi automation, robotics, laser etc.) with specific focus on developing and growing the Cryospeed and Laser Gases businesses.
— To support the development and manage the execution of the Industrial products strategy.
Principal responsibilities
Strategic Inputs
? Support RGC IP strategy development, aligned with global strategy
? Competitor intelligence update and threats management, monitor Linde’s competitive position and feed back data on
new competitive offerings in the market place
Product Service Offers
? With the market managers, develop a range of Product Service Offers (PSO) encompassing definition of pricing, packaging, product, Brand Image and promotional strategies that align with customer requirements and expectations.
? Achieve contribution and profitability targets in line with the strategy
? Work with Sales GM to develop a commercialisation plans for new PSO’s
Product Portfolio Management
? Analyse and review the revenue & profitability of Industrial and Welding Gases by customer and market sector by business in all regions.
? Evaluate and review products and packaging within the product group.
? Review product application performance and market acceptance
? Identify and review non performing products or packaging with improvement or exit strategy options
? Evaluate product application performance for customer and market acceptability
? Review sales by channel to optimise distribution mix.
? Develop and action appropriate research on key markets and products as required
? Provide concise and timely reports on product performance and actions to sales force
? Ensure appropriate representation and feedback to key Linde management as well as field visitation
Promotional Planning
? Liaise with the Marcomms Department to implement the promotional plan for BOC
? Ensure rigorous adherence to branding
? Develop literature and electronic media information on product information, applications, and safety
? Evaluate and review promotional results and return
New Product Introduction
? With the market managers, develop a 3 year new product / packaging development program to ensure product and customer leadership position
? Develop business cases on new product introduction encompassing strategic fit, demand, revenue, profit, return
? Determine initial demand, pricing and promotional strategy
? New Product training
Lead Generation and Qualification
? Generate and qualify leads using research, available tools and the sales force
? Evaluate effectiveness of lead generation data and provide feedback to sales team,
Global Interface
? Represent RGC on Industrial, Laser and Welding Gas Global forums and committees
? Work closely with Global BA to incorporate Global Strategies into local strategies
? Ensure Global development aligns to RGC needs
? Align the local product range to global range
Required key skills (functional/technical)
— Broad understanding of all aspects of Industrial Gases operations processes, including commercial implications of Operations decisions
— Strong interpersonal skills leading to effective, sustained relationships and effective teams
— Detail orientated organiser and planner, delivering outcomes
— Decisive, clear thinking and collaborative
— Strong interpretative analytical skills

Required qualifications/experience
— Relevant tertiary education preferably in marketing or business discipline
— 5 years + sales and marketing experience in industrial gases industry
— Experience in manufacturing processes, ideally advanced processes e.g. Laser
— 5 years Management experience
— Superior influencing skills
