Job Description & Responsibilities:
Programme delivery
- Support the delivery of the China North Markets agenda on behalf of the China North senior partner/Markets Leader, liaising with the partners leading individual programmes and providing support as required. This will include agreeing milestones and timing with the partner leads and their implementation support; following up on activity; helping to find resources to support delivery; bringing road blocks to the attention of the senior partner and helping to remove them, and preparing reports to share progress mad;
- Lead and implement key Markets initiatives including the ‘external advisers’ programme.
First point of contact for requests of the senior partner
- Acting as the first point of contact for ad hoc requests sent to the senior partner’s office and managing how these requests are allocated and dealt with;
- Respond to requests to support ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested by the Senior Partner
Drafting communications and other materials;
- Preparing, reviewing and editing meeting request letters and/or client correspondence in Chinese; coaching others on how to do this effectively;
- Drafting speeches, presentations and talking points for on an array of topics and for various constituencies (mainly in Chinese).
Coaching and other support
- Managing the allocation of tasks across BD and other professionals who have been tasked with supporting Markets related programmes;
- Contributing to best practice, knowledge sharing and the coaching of other members of the Markets/business development team.
Reporting structure & key relationships:
The role holder has a dual reporting line, to:
- the Beijing office senior partner (who is also the Markets leader for the China North region) and;
- the BJ business development lead (associate director);
As part of the firm’s business development community, they will also work closely with others in the function as well as with colleagues in Marketing & Communications.They will also work closely with partners and other staff leading/involved in the delivery of Markets programmes in the region.
- The role holder will have no direct reports but will help coach and manage the workloads of BD and other professionals who have been tasked with the delivery of Markets-related programmes.
Requirements:
Education:
- Educated to at least degree level (Chinese University qualified ideal, but not a pre-requisite);
Work experience
Must have
- At least 8-10 years' work experience, including time in a corporate environment (Chinese preferred);
Solid project management skills; - Experience of interacting with senior personnel (eg in government and/or State Owned Enterprises).
Nice to have;
- Corporate communications (media relations/government relations) or journalism experience (writing articles, media releases, speeches);
- Experience of working in a Big Four firm or other sizeable international organisation.
Capabilities;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in Chinese (business writing expertise preferred);
- At least moderately good written and oral communication skills in English;
- Experience of working and interacting effectively with senior leaders;
- Solid understanding of the local business/government environment in China.

- Outgoing personality with well-developed social and persuasive skills;
- Self starter, able to work with minimal guidance;
- Flexible and adaptable;
- Resilient and self-motivated;
- People-oriented team player, willing/able to take a coaching rather than direct management role.
Other 'nice to haves'
- Existing network of contacts that can be leveraged;
- Understanding of professional services firms (either through experience of working in one or by being a client of one);
- Understanding of PwC;
- Proven coaching skills.
