The Hardware Manager is responsible for managing hardware development projects for High Power Inverter (or Electric machine controller) through coordinating people, resources and processes required, and ensuring on-time project completion within financial budget guidelines. The incumbent will work closely with UK development team to maintain today’s product and build local team & competence for future product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Build and manage a HW engineering team: Team set up, daily management, team building, target setting and review
• Responsible for development environment set up based on UK environment
• Responsible for HW development: HW requirement definition, module design, integration and testing
• Responsible for validation test: EMC and reliability testing
• Establish scheduling to coordinate program development schedules with release dates, and contributes to minimizing development time so that products can be launched to market in the shortest possible time
• Set up and enforce hardware development processes, record systems and develop design documents and customer facing materials
• Supporting the software team in developing embedded software applications
• Supporting mechanic team for vibration and thermal design
• Supporting purchasing team for component requirement and supply nomination
• Supporting plant for sample production and process release
• Work with third party vendors on outsourced projects as and when required
  

Qualifications and Position Requirements:

• Masters degree or above in Automatics, Electrical or Electronics Engineering
• Min. 6 years automobile industry experience with more than 3 years in automotive power electronics
• Strong background of high power inverter HW design and verification & validation
• Expertise in Powertrain and embedded electronics systems and hybrid electric vehicle controllers
• Previous experience in design and EMC is an advantage
• Ability to think out of the box, see the big picture as well as be hands on
• Customer-focus, analytical and result oriented
• Excellent Project Management (PMP) skills and communication skills
• A good team player with the ability to build, lead and motivate team to fulfill project requirements
• Fluency in English a must to communicate with colleagues in the UK on a daily basis
