Summary:
1.This position is intended to provide the chemist (and supervisor) with guidelines for assessing job performance
and planning for future responsibilities.
2.The Chemist's activities are determined and prioritized based upon departmental, plant and corporate goals and
objectives.
Accountabilities Technica
l
1. Instrumentation - Be a part of the integration of new or existing instrumentation into the laboratory. Insure that
operational capabilities are fully understood and utilization of instruments is maximized by laboratory staff. Able to
operate, troubleshoot and train laboratory staff on all instrumentation. . Perform preventive maintenance and
repairs to the laboratory instrumentation.
2.Analytical Procedures - Introduction of new analysis into the laboratory. This includes the introduction and/or
development of new procedures. Make procedural recommendations designed to make improvements in
precision and accuracy.
3.Use statistical tools to troubleshoot processes or test/confirm validity issues.
4.Oversee the management of analytical standards that are used in the laboratory.

Projects
1. Assist Processing Specialists, Laboratory Supervisors, and Technicians in the integration of new products into
the laboratory
2.Perform equipment calibrations or insure that calibrations are performed as scheduled, and that all supportive
documentation is in place and accurate.
3.Process improvement - Seek out and propose the application of new processes, methodologies, and/or
equipment that would have a positive impact on the laboratory. (Carefully monitor the accuracy and quality of work
methods.)

Environmental, Health and Safety

1.Promote and follow plant policies regarding safe work practices through the prevention of personal injury,
conservation of the environment, and protection of Lubrizol property.

Training
1.Provide training to all laboratory staff on products, procedures, process changes.
2.Document completed training.

Communication
1.Openly communicates technical information, both written and verbally.

Customer Complaints / Corrective Action

1.Seek ways to improve customer service.
2.Follow up with customers to ensure problems are resolved.
3.Work on CARs (Corrective Action Requests) that involve technical issues.


Qualifications / Experience required

1.University degree in Chemical
2.At least 3 years related experience in lab testing or QA testing
3.Workable English, Especially in written English.
4.Ability to convey technical information
