Position Name:Senior Trade/Channel Marketing Manager, RCP APAC
Location:Shanghai, China
Reporting To:VP/GM, RCP APAC

JOB PURPOSE
The Senior Channel Manager for RCP Asia will lead and manage a group of channel managers to deliver top line sales and profitability across multiple channels, market verticals and categories. This position will be responsible for working with Sales and Brand Management to develop robust channel strategies and deliver effective programs for channels with specific recommendations for each country within Asia. Responsible for attracting, developing, and retaining channel management talent. They must develop strong cross-functional relationships, including Brand Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Operations and Finance.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES
Strategy:
? Develop an annual channel / regional strategy which is aligned with Segment, Brand, and Sales strategies
o Accelerates profitable growth for our brands aligned with business strategy and brand positioning strategies.
o Identify potential customer / channel conflicts and recommend resolutions.
o Provides coordinated strategies within and across channels / regions, delivering sustainable, profitable growth across all channels / regions.
o Demonstrates knowledge of brand and customer strategies.
o Identify and recommend business and channel distribution opportunities within channels.
? Develops an annual calendar of strategic initiatives, prioritizing within channels / regions and brands.
o Recommend and tracks success metrics.

Channel Planning and Execution:
? Lead the channel / regional planning process with channel / region, collaborating with Sales and Brand / Product Management.
? Recommend channel / region objectives and strategies, consistent with Segment priorities, and customer objectives within channels.
? Make category management recommendations for the channels to optimize performance, i.e. optimal SKU assortment, merchandising, and shelf / catalog layout.
? Lead the coordination of line review activities collaborating with Sales and Brand / Product Management, ensuring stakeholder alignment and coordination across customers / channel and brands.
o Ensures that line review recommendations are consistent with Segment strategies and plans.
o Participates in line reviews and represents the brand and commercial aspects of marketing.
? Executes the plan within area of responsibility, overseeing the creation of promotional programming, such as in-store merchandising signage or displays, retailer feature ads, catalog layouts, events (trade shows), and channel-specific marketing support materials. Ensures consistency with brand guidelines and point of sale.
? Provide product knowledge and support for the sales team.
? Support market vertical initiatives such as the tracking of new hotel projects and major construction projects across the region.

Pricing and Trade Fund Management:
? Provide channel/region perspective & needs for setting new product pricing to the Brand/Product team.
? Collect and analyze channel/regional pricing and distribution for NWL and competitive brands.
? Recommend channel/regional promotional pricing.
? Analyze the business case with Sales for customer price exceptions; deliver to Business leaders for approval if different than list / invoice / net price and pricing strategies and guardrails. Segment approves all price exceptions.
? Track, analyze and report impact of pricing exceptions on channel / region.
? Track and analyze NWL brand and competitive price / promotional activity within area of responsibility.
? Recommend how trade programming funds should be spent to ensure strategic alignment across brands and customers.
? Determine how to better use funds for brand growth.
? Analyze the effectiveness of trade spend and makes reallocation recommendations.
? Collaborate on the annual trade fund budget process.

Brand Stewardship and Merchandising Innovation:
? Provide recommendation on how to grow brands, profitably, at Point-of-Sale based on brand positioning and customer strategies. Communicates these recommendations to the cross functional team.
? Provide organization with direction on launch activation of new products within each of the channels / regions, and oversees the launch by channel / region.
? Analyze results at the channel / regional level of new product launch and merchandising initiatives. Use this information to recommend future improvements.
? Tradeshow management and Facilitation.

Financial Management:
? Participate in recommending base and stretch financial goals for the upcoming year for channels/regions.
? Identify and manage the business risks / opportunities.
? Manages and delivers channel / regional P&L’s expectations
o Focus on net sales and GM.
o Generate and review financial analysis on promotional activity, line review strategies, merchandising, pricing decisions, co-marketing activities, etc.

? Engages in S&OP process to provide input, working collaboratively with cross-functional partners to:
o Work to improve forecast accuracy.
o Reduce finished goods inventory and E&O, and prune unproductive SKU’s.
o Recommend approach to profitably manage exits and changeovers. Execute and monitor exits and changeovers.
? Track and maintain appropriate cost center budget elements and communicates issues.

Organizational Development:
? Advise and give input on channel management organizational structure.
? Collaborate cross functionally with all functional areas.
? Execute and offer input on simplification of appropriate business processes to increase organizational effectiveness and efficiency. Support corporate strategy alignment.

Talent Management:
? Work collaboratively with HR to recruit, develop, and retain diverse, high-performing channel management talent.
? Develop the skills for self, direct reports, and Channel Management team.
? Manage the MAP process for self and direct reports.
? Recognize and celebrate success.


QUALIFICATION
? Bachelors/University degree required, MBA preferred.
? 10+ years of combined trade/channel, brand management experience and/or sales experience with a proven track record of results.
? Experience
o Developing channel strategies and translating strategies into channel plans.
o Working with shopper / end-user insights research and using results to improve business initiatives and develop innovative programs at the point of sale.
o Coordinating across multiple countries, channels and market verticals.
o Collaborating with senior leaders and other functions.
? Experience driving brand equity and share growth.
? Strong oral and written communication skills are required; must be able to present data and conclusions in an organized manner.
? Proven ability to manage direct reports.
? Fluent in English – both written and spoken.
? Native/Fluent in Mandarin – both written (Simplified Chinese) and spoken.
