Job description

- Lead the engineering project team in Xiamen by delegating tasks to the team, coach and support the team to assure teamwork and the best possible output.

- Technical responsible for the quality of the project output of the structural engineering team in Xiamen.

- Monitor engineer work progress.

- Support, coach the engineers to find root causes, solutions and how to validate the solution.

- Request and assure project resources to build the project team that can satisfy the project requirement (capability and ability),

- Guide engineer in using it’s processes and procedures.

- Closely collaborate with PM, suppliers, sourcing and QA to assure engineering quality within the defined targets.

- Coordinate with project manager to make and execute detail engineering activity plan for new product development.

- Work together with HQ NPD team in phases 2-3 and 4 to give technical input.

- Make /coordinate technical decisions as agreed with the HQ Lead Engineer and feedback technical validations to the HQ engineering team.

- Ensure good communication and aligned teamwork for the XM engineering team with the HQ engineering team.

- Apply people performance reviews and give appraisal input.

- Report on progress, risks and status of engineering activities and escalate issues when necessary.

Requirements

Education

University degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or automotive engineering.

Experience

At least 8 years engineer working experience and 2 years engineer team leader.

Specific knowledge

- Comprehensive understanding of injection mold(ing), structure design, extrusion, assembly process, metal manufacture process.

- Good skills in solid work 2D, 3D, PDM

- Experience with and understanding of tools like FMEA, CTQ, PPAP, 8D and statistical analysis tools.

- Good understanding and practice of project management skills/tools and team leadership.

Business understanding

- Good understanding of new product development processes and the specific function of design, compliance, quality, sourcing, suppliers and production in these processes.

Good communication in English and Mandarin.
