? Large & High-strength Aluminum Alloy Plate for Aviation, Aerospace and Transportation Industry.

Purpose of the role

AOS (company operating system) in all core business processes with the exception of Zhenjiang Plant manufacturing operations.
? To ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental considerations are fully integrated into all improvement activity
? To adapt and codify world-beating operating philosophy, principles, practices, methods and tools in to the AOS
? To ensure the AOS is fully integrated into operating practices with focus on non-manufacturing core processes and China operations
? To shape the strategy that will ensure that company develops into a world-class organisation and develop the tactical plans to execute the strategy. Align improvement priorities, initiatives, plans, resources, metrics, targets and incentives with strategic “Must Wins” and BU-level goals
? Identify, deliver and gain ownership of sustainable step-change improvements across all functions in HS&E, productivity, quality, delivery, cost, people & financial performance
? To co-design and implement a continuous improvement infrastructure that allows everyone (excl. European manufacturing) at every level to participate in and drive performance improvement as a part of daily business
? To build skills needed to realise, and work effectively within, a world class operating system
? Deliver authentic productivity savings in non-manufacturing core processes that are P&L-linked Advise and support implementation of organizational design principles needed to create long-term AOS behavior change



Core Accountabilities

HSE Integration
? Ensure that HSE considerations are fully integrated into all operational improvement activity
? Role model safe behaviours and participate in safety improvement activities

AOS Integration
? Participate in development of overall AOS strategy and approach through the AOS advisory group
? Ensure that AOS principles are fully integrated into all operational improvement activity (excl. European operations)
? Ensure that AOS principles are fully integrated into new Greenfield growth projects or M&A opportunities
? Contribute to the development of content for the ‘AOS Playbook’ to ensure standardisation of high quality training materials, effective transfer of best practices and codification of newly developed best practices (Note: to be lead through manufacturing and adapted outside of mfg)

Strategy Development and Deployment
? Participate in the development of business strategy where it relates to operational improvement in non-manufacturing core processes and china operations
? Define the strategy for implementing AOS and driving performance improvement across non-manufacturing core processes and china operations
? Develop tactical plans for the mid to long term that ensure delivery against the strategy
? Support functional managers in developing and delivering their strategic and tactical plans

Step-Change Improvement Projects
? Identify opportunities to make significant, step-change performance improvement and accelerate the implementation of AOS through transformation projects
? Projects will include SG&A transformation, commercialization of technology leadership (incl. project management)
? Work with local functional management to agree scope and objectives and build buy-in to proceed with projects
? Build transformation teams in collaboration with functional managers
? Drive transformation projects: ensuring that rigorous analysis leads to the right conclusions; that appropriate targets are set; that robust plans are made; that teams stay on track and deliver against their plans, creating best practice examples of AOS and delivering significant impact to the business
? Actively coach teams to ensure best possible quality of work
? Lead change management, identifying and actively working to remove barriers to transformational change

Continuous Improvement Infrastructure
? Adapt, implement and embed the CI infrastructure developed in manufacturing, for each function to deliver year-on-year performance improvements
? Develop a system for embedding improvement (and results) in standards, documentation, training, procedures
? Drive compliance to standards and procedures (excl. European operations)

Skill and Capability Building
? Develop and deliver a program to build the skills of the core process teams; To coach and support them in problem solving and core AOS skills
? Coach key leaders and functions team members to support their skills development
? Take ownership of self-development, keeping skills matrix up-to-date and actively seeking opportunities to improve capabilities. Work on becoming one of Aleris’ most knowledgeable AOS people, never stop looking for learning opportunities
Organizational design
? Advise on “best practice” role definitions that define both work (value add) and continuous improvement content outside of manufacturing
? Develop spans of control that balance daily participation in problem solving with maintaining product flow (supervisor stand-in)
? Support the creation of infrastructure that enables a lean organization design to sustain
? Support on HR policies and procedures required to realize and sustain a continuously improving organization

Functional Support
? Support leadership teams in determining how to meet their business objectives and planning to deliver against those targets (e.g., through the use of strategic A3s)
? Ensure team members understand their responsibility for supporting the delivery against targets and are appropriately positioned to do that (e.g., have the right skills, have support to deal with challenging situations)


Professional and personal requirements



? Deep “insider” knowledge of operating philosophy, principles, practices, methods and tools of world-beating companies
? Experience leading large teams in operational roles – preferably as plant/general manager
? Good understanding of business and financial issues
? Experience communicating with, influencing and interacting with Top-Teams
? 10+ years experience of implementing and using lean systems design to drive performance transformation and build a continuous improvement infrastructure
? Extensive experience of successfully managing change management challenges
? Extensive Experience of managing complex projects
? Experience of designing and delivering capability building programs
? Knowledge of best practice approaches to transformational and cultural change
? Thorough understanding of company’ strategic, operational and financial objectives
Good IT skills – must be competent in using excel for analysis and PowerPoint to create presentations


Languages

Excellent English both speaking and writting


Education

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical or business field.
Masters or other advanced degree preferred
