职位描述

Location: Shell Center - Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the design of completion and well intervention (CWI) operations in the Onshore tight gas fields assigned and the management of onshore Canada tight gas completion and well intervention process for the fields assigned.

Operations include Shell’s Groundbirch (Montney shale) and BCG/Deep Basin in Alberta and British Columbia and other fields as assigned.

A critical aspect of the CWI Engineer’s job is mentoring less experienced staff and also managing contractor services to achieve alignment between Shell and contractor goals.

The successful candidate is expected to actively interact with all Wells superintendents and engineers in the area assigned, as well as, HSE staff, Venture and Asset teams. Beyond the immediate Wells and Venture teams, must also form relationships and alliances with contractor staff, regulatory staff, JV partners, Contracts and Procurement (CP) staff.

Key well challenges include well designs requiring multizone hydraulic fracturing techniques, horizontal/extended reach well operations, etc. to attain commercial production from these tight wells.
Experience designing and executing hydraulic fracture treatments.
Tight gas wells require hydraulic fracture treatments for economic production.
Other challenges include remote locations, cyclic nature of the Canadian rig industry, long-reach horizontal wells, water production issues, etc.

Due to the competitive nature of Onshore Canada tight gas plays, wells have to be drilled and completed as quickly and efficiently as possible while maintaining high performance in HSE and production output.

The success of the overall Onshore Canada tight gas ventures continues to rely predominantly on the ability of the Wells group to deliver low cost and high ultimate recovery wells.
This CWI Engineer is a key leader in the multi-disciplinary team to secure the continuation of this success.

This person will be responsible for management of the completion and well intervention process for the fields assigned. This includes the HSE engineering, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and best practice sharing considerations to design and execute new well completions and workovers in these tight gas sand fields.

This position is also responsible for recommending engineering plans, mentoring other engineering staff, analyzing/managing project risk, working closely with the field operations in the execution of the operations, tracking/managing trouble time and costs and driving performance to lower costs and increase production.

The incumbent will work with the asset team to help guide the production of reserves and development of the fields while understanding and mitigating risk.

Must have a strong knowledge and commitment to HSE through training, integrating HSE into work plans/activities, managing contractor performance through established processes, and supporting sustainable development activities.
Requirements:

Behavioral strengths include:

Ability to analyze/solve problems, ability to communicate/persuade, innovativeness, ability to work within a team, self-starter, mentoring, customer focus, interpersonal skills including valuing differences in others including culture/ideas, and ability to deliver results.

CWI operations generally consist of:
Workovers and recompletions (including fishing).
Multistage, massive hydraulic fracture treatments.
Coiled tubing.
Wireline (slick, braided and electric).
Well testing.
Capillary string installations for low pressure wells.
Well abandonments.
Other requirements include:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum of a BSc in Engineering, preferably Petroleum degree or similar study, from an accredited university.
Minimum 7 years relevant industry experience in completion and well intervention engineering and operations.
Solid understanding of tight gas and executing hydraulic fracture treatments.
APEGGA registration required.
Sound understanding of the process to deliver well operations including implementation of new technologies.
Proven experience in the field as well as in an office-based environment for planning and executing daily operations support.
Sound understanding of HSSE management techniques and the commitment to deliver HSSE performance.
Experience dealing with competing priorities: decisions are made without undue delay, demonstrated flexibility regarding prioritization and re-deployment of resources/staff.
Excellent people skills and experience working in a multi-discipline team environment.
Travel to field will be required.
Experience in Light Tight oil would be considered an asset.
