Responsibilities:

Research and Development in the extra heavy oil team falls under “Unconventional Technology,” which has global reach but is primarily focused on in-situ recovery from Shell Canada bitumen assets in Peace River, Orion, Grosmont and Athabasca oil sands. The high quality multi-discipline team performs special studies that provide novel and creative solutions to petroleum engineering,surveillance and production problems associated with extra heavy oil production viability. As a Research Production Engineer,your tasks and responsibilities include:

· Execute and deliver a first-class and cost-effective EOR (enhanced oil recovery) R&D program with emphasis on field application of innovative recovery processes and advancing technologies at the frontier of industry practice.

· Conduct required well and multi-physics modeling for these processes,developing simple modelling tools as required. The modeling involves assessment of physical mechanisms,field trial designs and commercial design of sub-surface, well completion and interaction with surface processing equipment.

· Completion and surveillance design and prototyping.

· Design and guide execution of field test and pilot programs. Operational liaison with the surveillance and operations teams,including field visits to guide technology implementation

· The successful incumbent interacts with team members across the globe and with staff from a wide variety of disciplines,and has broad and global career growth opportunity. She or he is an inquisitive self starter, keeping abreast of relevant developments in the industry and academia.

Requirements:

· PhD degree in a relevant Science (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or Engineering discipline.

· Aptitude to integrate technical know-how with field implementation.

· Communication and (virtual) team working skills.

· Awareness/knowledge of HSSE processes and bringing them in to prototype / pilot proposals.

· 1-5 years prior working experience, relevant for the job requirements.
