Job Title: Senior Principal Cost Engineer
Report to: Cost Engineering Manager – AP HQ
Location: Shanghai
Job Description
Individuals mush have a deep understanding and rich experience of the plastic injection molding, overmoulding, insertion moulding, plastic welding, painting and chroming process, as well as the clear understanding for the cost driver of each process. Strong Knowledge on the plastic material and equipment performace, understanding of the regional difference for plastic commodity. Individuals mush have the capability to design the process, select equipment brand and tonnage, calcualte the cycletime based on the drawing and design concept. Be capable to develop the cost model based on the supplier process visit for new/unique process of plastic commodity.Primary commodity assignment is Plastics. Other commodities may be assigned based on business needs. Work closely with Global Purchasing commoditiy and product line team members to support sourcing decisions with cost models per plan. Work closely with Engineering product line team members to support core engineering/design to cost and engineering change decisions with cost models per plan. Accurately track and report financial impact of cost modeling projects working closely with Finance and Purchasing teams.Mentor offshore team for cost model development and usage, review the results before releasing to internal customers. Manging the clean sheet cost development, review and final presentation for assigned project. Work with suppliers to develop their cost model. Work with other regions for global cost model analysis.
Required Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, creativity, business and financial acumen, logical thinking and overview views, and a passion for understanding cost are required. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel or any of the Industry cost estimating software is must. The position requires travels, international or domestic depending on the project demands. Depending on the project the individuals need to present the project results to middle and upper managements.
Required Experience
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or business with a minimum of 5 years progressive experience in Cost Engineering / Estimating, Process Engineering Product engineering for plastic parts. Working experience in Automotive OEMs and suppliers are preferred but not a must.
