SOURCING SUPERVISOR - Asia POSITION DESCRIPTION

Location: Shanghai, China (Dover APO Office)
Reporting to: Director, Global Procurement – Mark Hobart – Cincinnati, Ohio

SUMMARY:
You will work with our global Hydro Systems business to maintain existing supplier relationships and source new suppliers / coordinate the activities related to the strategic sourcing, new supplier development and procurement of goods and services required from our supply base in Asia. This position will assist Hydro’s global efforts to improve quality, on-time delivery, and other key metrics for our supply base in Asia.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Support Hydro Systems Global operations (US, Europe, Brasil, China) Sourcing needs with our Asian Supply Base – manage supplier relationships and support global Hydro locations on all supplier issues (negotiations, quality, engineering, new product development, etc.)
? Researches and develops competent suppliers of high quality components by preparing bids, proposals, or other requests and analyzes requested materials, assesses financial stability and manufacturing capabilities of suppliers, and assists in making the best sourcing decisions for Hydro Systems.
? Develops positive relationships with existing and potential suppliers through detailed communications of Hydro Systems philosophy, quality, material requirements, and pricing objectives. Contacts suppliers regarding material problems, such as delayed receipt, poor quality, and resolves issues.
? Visits supplier locations to negotiate prices, review and analyze operations and support supplier audits to evaluate the short-term and long-term ability of suppliers to meet Dover Corporation and Hydro Systems expectations.
? Sources a variety of components including plastic, machined parts, sheet metal and electrical, from qualified, value-added suppliers.
? Cooperates with the Hydro Manufacturing and Engineering Groups globally by sharing pertinent data and cost analyses as required in order to establish optimal global supply chain management strategies.
? Supports Dover Strategic Sourcing initiatives and project teams in Asia
? Spend one day per week at Hydro Systems Lingang facility supporting their supplier development and local sourcing needs.


QUALIFICATIONS:

? Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a Supply Chain or Sourcing discipline.
? 5+ years of experience in sourcing, qualifying and developing new suppliers.
? Advanced experience with China sourcing.
? Must have the ability to accommodate periodic overnight travel, as needed.
? Experience with MS Office Suite of programs.
? Ability to work independently as well as effectively with others and to be flexible in work assignments, and assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential functions.
? Fluent and clear communication in English and Chinese.
? Ability to obtain passport and visa to enable global travel

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
? Bachelor’s degree
? Knowledge of Strategic Sourcing processes, quality, new product development, and international logistics
? Knowledge of materials, processes, parts and electronics used in small appliance or consumer product manufacturing.
