The Performance Materials Division of Air Products within Asia has four manufacturing sites, producing a range of Epoxy Curing agent and Performance Chemicals Additives for the Manufacturing and Construction industries

The largest site is located in Nanjing Chemical Park, and was built by Air Products, with start-up in 2010. It is a 4 reactor multipurpose facility with an annual throughput approaching 25000MT. As well as the core reactors, then the site comprises Tankfarms, services / utilities and associated infrastructure

Three further sites in Asia support the Air products Chemicals Business. These are located in Changzhou, Isehara (Japan) and Singapore. All these sites are more mature in design / operation, but follow the same Air Products high standards for Design and Operation.

Reporting to the Europe and Asia Plant Process Engineering (PPE) Manager, with day to day direction being given by the plant lead engineer, the incumbent will have specific responsibilities supporting both day to day Operations, as well as the longer term strategic focuses. The position will join a team of existing engineers to meet the increasing business opportunities. The responsibilities associated with this position include;


? Support for the manufacturing facilities. This would take a range of forms, from direct day to day plant troubleshooting to supporting the Operations team on longer term Equipment, Process and Quality issues.

? Working to deliver the longer term strategy for the PMD sites, covering Expansion requirements to support Business growth as well as New Products and New Technologies.

? The PPE team also has a core objective in improving plant performance through reducing manufacturing costs; the incumbent will have individual targets to deliver, by an expected combination of capital and non-capital initiatives, and extensive use of CI tools and skills.

Although the position is based at the Nanjing site, it is expected that the engineer will also provide periodic support to the other Chemical sites in Asia, with potential longer (2-3 month) assignments for larger projects.


CANDIDATES QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

? Chemical engineer, minimum 5 years experience, ideally with some background within a manufacturing environment, and knowledge of process design and its deliverables (P&ID's, process datasheets, process schedules, relief valve schedules etc).

? The position is site based, with time being split between office and plant based activities. The incumbent should be able to excel working within either environment.

? Excellent team and communication skills are also a prerequisite. As well as on-site activities, as indicated above, the individual will be working with people both inside and outside the organization and region.

? The individual should have a strong track record of driving change within their current or previous roles. Delivering Capacity and Cost Reduction within the plants and sustaining that improvement is allways a challenge, but one that is key to devering continual improvements for the business.
