SUMMARY: Will work in a research and development environment, will devise new scientific approaches to problems encountered and apply specialized scientific knowledge and skills to develop specific solutions. Will plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of scientific techniques, procedures, and approaches. In addition to directing and carrying out research and development efforts, will also demonstrate technical excellence and technical leadership by presenting papers, attending conferences, meeting with customers, participating in new product rollouts, and securing patents and other intellectual property. Is a specialized research and development position where the focus is application of the scientific method to specific technical problems and challenges encountered by Laird Technologies products. The end result of which will result in new scientific discovery or application of current scientific discoveries to Laird products. .

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Application of scientific methods and principles to specific projects and technical challenges.
2.Has knowledge of commonly used scientific analysis techniques and practices within the specialty
3.Has a working knowledge of laboratory safety and hygiene practices
4.Ability to establish and maintain sound relationships with manufacturing, engineering, marketing, and technology groups so that we can readily respond to market changes and/or customer demands.
5.Perform scientific investigations involving experimental studies in support of current products and/or new product development; plans and organizes the development effort, researches, investigates, and proposes technical solutions for projects.
6.Direct laboratory technicians during experiments, as well as perform experiments individually.
7.Conduct analytical studies using sophisticated laboratory instruments.
8.Prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for new product formulations and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS:
1.Personal computer skills such as MICROSOFT OFFICE and relational database.
2.Excellent communication skills
3.Ability to work well in a Team environment
4.Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups
5.Ability to work with only general guidance from management
6.Ability to lead teams and sub-teams toward over-all project objectives
7.Demonstrated understanding of most new product development processes and work flow
8.Working knowledge of most SBU product lines, detailed knowledge of several
9.Understanding and support of multi-disciplinary development teams
10.Basic knowledge in most technical areas, fluent in one.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1.Polymer (or Chemistry) Major or related major
2.Silicone based resin investigation experience is a plus
3.Senior Master's Degree in a Scientific discipline, minimum
4.Team management skill
5.5-8 years of experience
