Role Summary/Purpose
The STL will be recognized as Global Technology experts for given commodities They will be the point person for leading and managing projects of technical and commercial nature. They will be co-responsible to build the funnel for cost out opportunities and product simplification from technical standpoint. For these projects, He/She will lead engineering changes, V&V, ECR/ECO implementation with maximum involvement from supply base & P&L design group owners.

Essential Responsibilities
• Development of technology roadmaps & ensuring the usage of it in NPIs & Productivity Projects
• Development of technically viable funnels by working closely with Commodity teams & support them building strong funnel & business case.
• Drive design reviews with suppliers & P&L, drawings modifications/changes as required with P&L engineering involvement on the productivity projects
• Lead the development of validation & verification plan with P&L eng buy in & initiate/implement ECR/ECO as required on deflation projects.
• Manage V&V implementation & Parts Classification with strategic supply base & P&L engineering teams
• Expert in cost drivers & process drivers of a given commodity parts/sub assemblies
• Conduct technical seminars & engage in engineering tech council to drive latest technology trends with an approach of total cost ownership
• Engaged in VCP funnel fest, Disruptive cost work outs & NPIs pre M0 meetings to drive right technologies & right cost
• Work cross-functionally with Commodities, Modalities and Product Segments

• Help to drive Modalities/Sourcing VCP financial targets

• Drive design for cost methodology on NPIs
• Drive standardization and commonality on materials/processes/subsystems
• Drive RoHS designs in to NPI
• Drive Standards in to NPI design process
• Drive suppliers selection with NPI/Sourcing teams at M0 level
• Help NPI team on test strategies, early suppliers involvement

Outputs:
• Meet VCP target for Modality/Purchase family
• Right Technology & Suppliers selection by M1 of NPI
• Lead Mechanical related “Design for Manufacturing” project

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical engineering with minimum 20 years experiences in the area of engineering/processes/technical sourcing
• Excellent Knowledge in engineering in the areas of Validation & Verification, Engineering change process
• In-depth knowledge on Manufacturing & Processes areas in Mechanical areas like Machining, Casting, Welding.
• Good knowledge on costing/understanding the cost drivers & directing/managing the cost reduction ideas
• Willing to travel locally & internationally

Desired Characteristics

• Previous experience of engineering program management or lead program integrator
• Certified lean six sigma certification
• VCP Leadership roles experiences with strong Modalities (P&L) eng background
• Computer Aided Design (CAD),Cadence and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience for product design eMatrix Product Data Management (ePDM).
