The Area:
Morningstar’s Product Group owns all of our software products and services for institutions, advisors, and individuals. Our products include Morningstar Direct, a global research platform for institutions; Morningstar Advisor Workstation and Morningstar Office, research and investment planning software platforms for financial advisors; and Morningstar.com, an investment website with research, data, and tools for individual investors. We provide custom tools for investment professionals looking for a more tailored solution and we are currently in active development phases of next generation mobile and cloud-based products.

The Role:
In this role, you will lead to drive QA engineering excellence across the entire Products Group in Morningstar’s Shenzhen development center. An ideal candidate will be a self-starter with 8-10 years of experience working in software and who understands business goals to create scalable, flexible technical testing frameworks that evaluate the product’s ability to meet these goals. The leader will provide technical direction and oversight of test automation and ensure modern software testing practices are being applied with rigor equally and consistently across the products and functional teams. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to motivate the team with achievement and cultivate a culture of high energy resulting in software engineering technical excellence. Exposure & contribution to Open Source Software (OSS) solutions are a big plus given our adoption systems such as Rabbit-MW, jQuery, iText and ext.js. This is a Shenzhen-based position.

Key Job Responsibilities:
+Report & track quality based on real-time QA metrics & operational dashboards
+Act as a practice manager to ensure teams use good designs & testing strategies
+Coordinate with central Release Management, Network/IT and Operations
+Ensure the creation of quality automation test strategies for functional, non-functional and performance testing of distributed cloud-based, Windows client & Mobile applications
+Oversee regression test design & User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Test Planning
+Ensure teams execute setup & maintenance of QA environment & UAT environments
+Mentor/Oversee team members regarding test script development, & test injection points
+Act as the guardian of Software Quality & Consistency by owning non-functional requirements, architectural direction for testability, setting quality bars & ensuring minimal technical debt

Requirements:
+5+ years of QA leadership & management experience
+Minimum 5+ years of solid knowledge and working experience of software quality assurance principles and methodologies
+Comprehensive knowledge of various types of testing involved in software development, from system, functional testing, performance/load testing, to UAT etc.
+Able to demonstrate prior experience with quantitative skills and quality metrics
+Prior experience with performance & load testing is required
+Development experience with C++, Java or .net is preferred
+Experience with both Agile & Waterfall development lifecycles
+Ability to mentor test team & enforce good development & testing practices
+Strong leadership capabilities & a passion for excellence
+Excellent English communication skills - both written & verbal
+Experience with industry standard QA tools for defect tracking, test case management, automation & source code control
+Previous experience in a customer facing role or with an overseas company is preferred
+Financial experience is a plus
+Bachelor degree
