Role Summary/Purpose
Manage the team which will be based in a new factory in Tianjin for the development and construction of magnets, gradient coils and systems for MR Imaging. Lead a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, Physicists, and Technicians to execute product programs with cross-functional team to meet customer requirements. This is a key role in the Global Team, part of Global MR Engineering, focusing on developing and supporting world-class hardware for use in clinical whole body MR systems.

Essential Responsibilities
• Functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, team/talent development, skill set improvement, and mentoring • Drive all phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up and manufacturing production support, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost. • Setting the strategy and execution of the team • Driving continuous improvement of systems, products and processes • Resource assignment and prioritization including headcount and base cost budget management • Instill rigorous approach to target costing for new products and driving cost out of existing products • Lead change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues • Support existing products within Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality Engineering • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position • Drive compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving Design Outputs/Program Deliverables

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or relevant technical discipline• 10 years relevant work experience• 3 years project management and/or people leadership experience• Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams.• Fluent verbal and written English language communication skills

Desired Characteristics
• Masters Degree or PhD in Engineering, Physics or relevant technical discipline• 7+ years’ experience in superconducting magnet and/or gradient coil design and development with close coupling to product manufacture. Equivalent experience in another high tech industry such as aircraft, optics, and satellite would also be considered.• Problem-solving and leadership skills• Experience working with global teams• Ability to motivate & inspire others• Mentoring and coaching abilities• Supplier and manufacturing interface skills• Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives• Lean skills• Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes• Knowledge of UL/ETL/IEC/TUV standards and how they apply to designs• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
