The Wheatstone LNG Project is a multi-train Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and domestic gas (DomGas) plant near Onslow Australia. Bechtel is honored to participate in the engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up of this LNG plant. This position will be located at the subcontractor’s facility in Tanggu China.

Role Overview
Unless otherwise indicated, applicants for construction positions should have heavy industrial (Direct Hire or Construction Management) construction experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Assists in supervising field employees assigned to piping discipline work area. Assist in evaluation and solution of potential field problems. Perform all functions and responsibilities in consonance with the company’s values and beliefs.
1. Provide technical engineering information and interpretation of plans, detail sheets and specifications for contractors.
2. Continually find solutions to conflicts in drawings and specifications by conferring with the Consultants. Coordinate these solutions with the various sub-trades.
3. Report accurate quantities for labour cost reports, accurately monitor material ledgers to determine if quantities remaining in the estimate are sufficient to complete the project in the field.
4. As a member of the Project Site Team, your duties include being able to perform layout work competently, accurately and efficiently.
5. Coordinate inspections with consultants and authorities as required by the contract.
6. Inspect false-work for conformance to design drawings.
7. Monitor installation of piping to isometric drawings.
8. Assist LDFE by enforcing quality control, expediting subcontractors.
9. Continually update drawings with changes as issued by Consultants.
10. Review shop drawings for conformance with the contract and ensure information is communicated to Foreman and Superintendent.
11. Identify contract document conflicts and recommend solutions.
12. Ensure construction work complies with all engineering standards, codes, specifications and design instruction.
13. Present oneself as a candidate for promotion by learning and understanding construction methods and developing good construction management skills.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
1.Educational and experience requirements include a two year education beyond high school or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience and a minimum of five to ten years construction engineering and layout
2. Must have the ability to read blueprints and develop as-builts.
3. Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others a must. Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner to the Owner, related project staff and the community.
4. Computer skills are required as well as previous experience with Smart Plant Review Software. Enthusiasm for challenge and new initiatives are prerequisites.

Strong English language skills required (verbal and written). Position is located in industrial port area nearby the city of Tianjin, China. Work authorization required. Candidate must be willing to work flexible work schedule. Transportation provided from TEDA/Tanggu area to/from jobsite.

Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
