1．PURPOSE目的

To support Philips Research Shanghai by carrying out physics research for consumer solutions (focus on personal care). Additionally, candidate is expected to assist in building up roadmap of research directions, transfer pipeline and competency development within the team.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES主要工作职责
· Define and provide technical leadership for research projects covering domestic appliances and personal care devices.
· Responsible for executing research projects and defining the approach
· Contribute to short-term (<2 years) research roadmaps and technology platforms and mid-term (2-4 years) expectations on developments for the targeted applications and domains.
· Responsible for maintaining and updating the personal knowledge in his/her area of expertise.
· Maintains contacts with colleagues within and outside Philips, other R&D centers and universities, in order to participate in strategic platforms and to keep track of new developments.

3. MAJOR CHALLENGES主要挑战
The major challenges for the candidate are to
- Identify research directions based on physics experience that have good transfer potential to business sectors.
- Achieve good balance, for the developed solutions, between the performance and consumer product compatibility (i.e., low cost and reliable).
- Manage well multiple relationships – internal and external - to bring tasks into success.

d) Competency and Skills 能力和技能:
- >5 years hands-on research experience, preferably in consumer applications (ideally personal care).
- Broad experience covering multiple areas of physics (optics, acoustics, multiphysics modeling, RF)
- Experience in defining and executing research projects that successfully led to consumer products.
- Experience in working in project teams.
- Master or PhD in (applied) physics.
- Specific knowledge of and experience in optics, acoustics, multiphysics modeling, radiofrequency.
- Experience in cross-discipline co-operation (chemistry, mechanics, physiology).
- Ability to combine theoretical modeling and experimentation to optimally execute research projects.
- Good insights of pros and cons of technologies in relation with specific applications.
- Passionate, open-minded, with a good team spirit, and results-oriented.
- Effective communication skills, good grasp of English both oral and written.
