PwC's P&LS Consulting Practice delivers the complete package from strategy to implementation to address its clients' most pressing business issues. While remaining flexible to the different needs of each client, the use of these tools and processes has helped to accelerate results and confirm that projects run smoothly.
Although we have a distinct go-to-market team dedicated to Health, the P&LS and Health teams frequently work jointly to develop propositions for the market and delivering projects for our clients. Both Heath and P&LS are designated key priorities in the current 5 Year plan, and we place equal importance on both to reflect this priority. We see the skills and experience across the sectors and interchangeable to reflect the needs of our clients.


Our Life Sciences Sales and Marketing Consulting Solutions focus on five key areas that help organizations transform their approach to producing results: commercial transformation, marketing strategy and operations, product launches, innovation, and sales force management.


Job Description & Responsibilities:

  1. Practice Building
    • Participate in practice building activities (e.g. conference participation, thought leadership development, market offering development, recruiting);
    • Identify and develop expertise in specific practice specialty areas to drive firm recognized expertise development. This will focus specifically on market development, channel strategy, pricing and market access;and
    • Provide recruitment support, coaching and mentoring to senior managers and below.
  2. Client Relationship Development and Management
    • Take a leadership role in developing target clients/channel;
    • Develop and manage key client stakeholder relationships and communications to drive the development of new opportunities. Develop opportunities from initial client contact to sale. Maintain client relationships outside delivery process;
    • Facilitate complex meetings, presentations and workshops to build client commitment for the change; and
    • Cultivate follow-on opportunities at clients and develop compelling business case/proposals to new business opportunities.
  3. Project Delivery and execution
    • Identify and prioritize client value creation opportunities based on research and analysis activities and an understanding of client visions, performance gaps, and needs;
    • Shape and lead the business solution implementation: defining and supervising business architecture, process design and development activities, developing capabilities and performance measurements/KPIs;
    • Develop implementation plans and lead teams to execute project deliverables to schedule, budget and performance goals. Manage project financials. Assess and manage risk throughout the project lifecycle and make adjustments as needed. Ensure planned business outcomes are achieved;
    • Direct business pilots and client deployment activities;and
    • Design the projects overall communication strategy and approach to the desired change journey.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor degree or above in pharmaceutical, life sciences and medicine, MBA background would be a plus;
  • Minimum ten years' working experiences, of which 5 - 7 years with MNC pharmaceutical/ medical device companies in the commercial and/or operations (e.g. sales and marketing, channel management) and in a management role;
  • Three to five years' consulting experiences (either an internal consultant or an external consultant);
  • Experiences with corporate M&A projects or leadership experience with large business transformation projects (e.g. system implementation, post deal...etc);
  • Possess basic understanding of regulatory requirements/regulatory trends in the pharmaceutical industry (Chinese healthcare reform, GMP, GSP...etc);
  • Good understanding of Healthcare in China. Consulting or direct experience in Health would be an added bonus;
  • Proven track record in business development and sales - circa 10m RMB per annum;
  • Strong executive level relationship building skills. Evidence of long standing relationship building at major companies (SOE and MNC);
  • Effective leadership and management skills with a proven ability to mobilize and energize project teams to deliver results;
  • Solid financial acumen, business analysis and diagnosis skills;
  • Ability to create and deliver high-impact communications to senior audiences (written and oral in both Chinese and English) and facilitate complex discussions;and
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin.
