MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
· Identify, evaluate, develop, qualify, and launch new and existing suppliers and factories in support of the Hardware & Home Improvement Group’s New Product Road
· Lead business Key Initiatives in support of ongoing business strategies
· Provide leadership in assuring project targets are achieved relative to cost, quality, timing, ongoing delivery fill rate, and working capital
· Assure compliance with New Product Milestone Process
· Work closely with Lake Forest teams (especially Marketing, Engineering, Sourcing, Supply Chain, and AME) to clarify project objectives and establish required project-level operating models. Take full ownership of all project details. Provide frequent and detailed communication with these same Lake Forest teams.
· Lead cross functional teams in alignment with the various project-level operating models
· Work as main liaison between HHI and the supply base, organizing all meetings, establishing agendas, and acting as central point of contact in all regards
· Execute tooling & equipment starts, schedule tracking, and buyoffs. Own the Capital and Expense budgets associated with assigned projects.
· Frequent onsite production oversight, capacity planning, supply chain management, gap resolution, troubleshooting, expediting/de-expediting, prioritization management and supply shortage resolution
· Develop contingency plans as needed to assure sustainable supply chain
· Monitor and provide risk assessments of significant changes in supplier capability, capacity, or supply stability
· Review proposed engineering changes and new product releases for impact on production methods and review findings with other departments
· Monitor the shipping process, logistics, invoicing accuracy, and customs clearance of new products post launch to assure smooth execution
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Other duties as required by manager
· Overtime and off-shift work as required to successfully complete projects on-time and on-budget
· Train & facilitate process improvements in the supply base using best-of-class improvement techniques (process yield improvement, Kaizen, Lean/Six Sigma, VMI, and other appropriate tools)
· Keep abreast of the latest developments in manufacturing technology, material flow, and information systems
· Travel as required by various work assignments
QUALIFICATIONS-KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)
Education and Work Experience
· BA/BS Degree Required. Engineering degree and/or MBA preferred.
· Experience in any or all of the following:
o Execution of New Product Introductions with factories or supply base
o Work experience in one or more of the following processes is preferred: zinc die casting, injection molding, metal stamping, decorative plating, powder lacquer coating.
o Supplier Development
o Supplier Project Management
o Manufacturing experience in a high volume, consumer product manufacturing environment. Practical shop-floor work experiences preferred. Previous supervisory experience is preferred. Experience with modern factory management techniques (e.g. Demand Flow Technology, Design of Experiments, Design for Assembly, etc.) preferred.
o Project management experience
Technical/Functional Competencies
·Mandarin Chinese & English fluency required
·Demonstrated executive presentation skills
·Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills
·Manufacturing operations, material planning, capacity planning experience
·Extensive functional knowledge of Hardware manufacturing processes: Casting, Forging, Stamping, Injection Molding, Decorative Plating, Assembly & Packaging
·Experienced reading, interpreting and communicating engineering drawings, specifications and project plans
·RFQs, bid analysis, material & tooling negotiation, contract negotiation & execution
·Significant understanding of Global Commodity and FX Markets and macroeconomics
·Good at international trading operations
·Purchase Order management, setup, AP invoice reconciliation, debit/credit management
·Knowledge in ERP system, e.g. SAP
·NPI Program management process & procedure knowledge
·Experience leading projects, and/or business teams to project milestone schedules
·Comprehension & experience in financial analysis, budget attainment, ROI, and forecasting
·Strategy development support and project status reporting
·Demonstrated skills in independent problem solving, decision-making, and follow through
·Leadership: ability to work as team leader and/or program manager
·Solid computer skills, e.g. MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Oracle
·Must be able to work and thrive in a team-based matrix environment
