SUMMARY

Planner / Buyer procure all material necessary to support prototype builds per program management requirements. In addition, the Planner / Buyer is responsible for assuring the best possible component pricing on related orders, ensuring execution to program management time lines, and coordination with relevant SCM deliverables for associated projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned)

-Review the Material Requirements of associated build plan.

-Issue Purchase Orders to Suppliers.

-Track and expedite open orders to ensure on-time delivery from Suppliers.

-Manage and communicate all purchasing issues related to SCM, Coordinate with different teams in Jabil including Logistic/ receiving/ quality/ warehouse/ shipping/ finance for order internal process.

-Quote Design Bill of Materials to designated supply base per supplier selection Rules. Review quotes with SCPM, Commodity Management and / or Technical Program Manager to ensure supplier selection adherence to SCM direction and optimum leverage is obtained.

-Provide the SCPM a detailed explanation of purchases when the actual price exceeds the current costed BOM price.

-Communicate and escalate any material shortages that may place the program in jeopardy directly to SCPM.

-Review project material cost within SCM and provide related reports.

A Planner/Buyer may also focus on New Product Development (NPI) activities. In this role, the focus of the position will be as follows:

- Coordinate with production team in Jabil to resolve NPI related issue including material pull list/ZPRP order/material on line check support.

- Execute in SAP system for PU/planning function, including material master maintain, order placement, material shortage report and PO report.

- Ensure qualification requirements for material are met by including qualification material in build kit. Be a conduit between other Jabil Planner/Buyers and the development team regarding AVL deployment per associated program guidelines. Work with Technical Program Management as well as other functional groups to ensure material availability and communicate material constraints in prototype builds dates.

-Work with workcell Planner/Buyers as an NPI project moves to production to get component partmaster criteria set and to move the procurement responsibility into the workcell.

-Identify parts that require special terms and conditions or require long lead time risk buys. Work with Commodity Managers and SCPM’S to get special agreements in place to ensure support of production requirements prior to launch dates.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

-Bachelor’s degree in Material Logistics Management (MLM) or Supply Chain Management (SCM) or similar degree OR bachelor’s degree plus 1 to 2 years of Manufacturing experience (Supervision, Inventory Control, Production Planning or Purchasing) OR 3 to 5 years of Manufacturing experience.

-Strong analytic and multi-tasking skills.

-Ability to identify and resolve logistical issues with limited supervision.

-Must be able to maintain a thorough knowledge of and adherence to company policies and procedures.

-Ability to work under tight time deadlines, with frequently changing priorities and high stress level.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

-PC skills – spreadsheets, database and word processing applications.

-Ability to communicate effectively in all media forms: personally, phone, written, e-mail.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Moderate math skills required

We work closely with Jabil Business Units, Workcells and customers to quickly progress concepts into volume production. In addition, we incorporate vital Design for Manufacturability (DFm) and Design for Testability (DFt) guidelines that reduce production costs and increase product quality.

Our Design capabilities include electrical engineering, software engineering, PCB layout, mechanical engineering, industrial design, tooling engineering, and quality assurance.

We currently maintain product competencies in networking, servers and storage, mobile and wireless products and consumer electronics.

Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT)
Advanced Manufacturing Technology provides customer and sales support, systematic training, equipment and process capability studies, implementation support and technology roadmaps for advanced manufacturing, test and failure analysis processes and emerging product technologies.

Global Test Services (GTS)
Global Test Services provides test development and support for all Jabil manufacturing facilities.
