Mission:

The Brand Communication Director's mission is to position adidas as the leading sports brand in China with consumers, media, trade, and the sports industry through industry leading communication strategies and implementation, along with management of the best marketing communications organization in China.

He or she will achieve this mission by:
- Constructing an industry leading annual marketing communications strategy and plan that supports the company business plan and company objectives, which positions adidas as the leading brand in terms of brand communications
- Ensure that the strategies are implemented and executed across all marketing communications activities which enables adidas to be positioned as the leading sports brand
- Leading, building, and managing an industry leading marketing communications team which has the capacity to deliver industry leading marketing communications in every aspect


Key Responsibilities:

Planning
- Participates in the development of the business plan and marketing plan
- Works closely with the VP, Sport Performance on the overall development of the marketing strategies and marketing plans
- Formulates and executes marketing communication strategies and plans designed to position adidas as the leading sports brand in China.
- Utilizes the company initiatives, sales plans, product direction, retail plans into the planning of the overall marketing communications plan in terms of horizontal, vertical concept investment as well as geographical scope/analysis
- Communicates marketing communication plans to adidas China colleagues
- Leads the internal and external communication of the brand communication plans and establishes plans and schedules for each discipline in marketing communications
- Influences global marketing and Asia region marketing on adidas Greater China marketing communication direction and needs
- Develop a consumer segmentation strategy from the business as to effectively target marketing communications spend
- Leads the process of plan monitoring and tracking all marketing communication activities
- Provides analysis of the results of the key marketing initiatives

Management:
- Leads, builds, and manages the marketing communications team to deliver the strategic marketing plan and high level implementation of the plan
- Consistently communicates the brand message, values, and symbols with the most relevant marketing platforms that have the most impact to consumers
- Manages the communication strategies so as to align with the company marketing plan
- Manages and is fully responsible for ensuring the MWB is used strategically, responsibly, effectively, and ethically; giving adidas a leading ROI in the industry
- Manages and maximizes all the key marketing partners, including but not limited to: Advertising agencies, Media agencies, PR agencies, etc. to ensure that the adidas brand is maximizing and leveraging the partnership
- Proactively ensures that the marketing communications department leads in intelligence gathering of the market and most innovative and updated marketing approaches.
- Manage and evolve the brand in line with the business strategy and global guidelines

Financial:
- Designs the budget proposal to support the marketing plan
- Participates in the development of the marketing working budget
- Maximizes use of the budget
- Ensures appropriate and ethical use of budget
- Directly accountable for all marketing communications budget and spending
- Ensures that every dollar is spent responsibly so as to meet the Department's objectives
- Ensures information requirement for Finance Dept, and that all financial information provided is accurate, timely, and properly formatted
- Assumes responsibility for Travel and Expense budget

System and Processes:
- Implementing planning and execution processes that enable the organization to follow the marketing communications plan
- Designs a progress report process to track planned programs
- Implements and maintains reporting processes that covers all marketing communication functions
- Establishes and maintains process to ensure the company purchases the right products and services
- Implements control systems to guarantee high level of integrity
- Implements and maintains reporting processes for all marketing communications functions

People Management:
- Recruits, trains, and manages a strong team at all levels
- Provides strong leadership for horizontal as well as vertical reports
- Sets performance plans and reviews with each direct report
1. Plans include goals, key job responsibilities, competency development, measures and follow-up activities
2. Reviews include goals, key job responsibilities, company values, competency development
- Ensures that direct reports set performance plans with subordinates
- Cooperates with superior & HR in all pay decisions regarding subordinates
- Provide coaching and feedback to subordinates
- Develops workforce planning for the Department on a quarterly basis
1. Works closely with the HR Department on the plan and the needs for the Department
2. Cooperates with HR to identify future leaders for adidas and builds development plans for and with them
- Generates a high level of teamwork among all Departments

Training:
- With HR, implements a training and development plan for Marketing Communications
- Ensures that all Department employees understand the role of marketing and branding at adidas
- Actively participates in all departmental level training and development initiatives and activities
- Communicates marketing information and initiatives to entire company in a timely fashion

Knowledge / Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years brand management experience with a global consumer goods brand
- People management experience
- Sports enthusiast and passionate about sports
- Previous work in a multi cultural environment
- Substantial China experience required
- International experience preferred

Educational Background:
- University degree or above

PC/Language/Other Skills:
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products
- English Fluency and working knowledge of Mandarin
