POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities of this position will include the development, product modification, reformulation and maintenance of
chemical coatings products. Focus is concerned with short-term projects, and shall include the resolution of customer complaints and manufacturing/formulation related problems.
Position is also responsible for providing field support as needed and could require up to 10% travel.

Timely and accurate execution of product testing on production material.
Timely and accurate execution of product formulations and testing.
Maintenance of safe operating procedures through complete knowledge of safety rules and lab procedures.
Resolution of problems relating to products and processed accomplished in a timely manner.
Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with those in line of work.

Resolves assigned complex problems, develops new products/processes and maintains/improves existing products/processes.
Plans (resource needs), schedules, executes work, analyzes and applies results in solution of complex problems.
Demonstrates business awareness in all interactions. Proficient in documenting and communicating with others.
Professionally applies technical expertise, problem solving and decision making skills.
Shows initiative in resolving issues and problems with solutions for internal/external customers. Recommends changes in technical approaches to achieve product/process goals.
Fully understands processes by which results are produced. Consistently produces quality work. Strives for improvements in all aspect of the work.
May train and develop technicians and lower level professionals.
Takes responsibility for ensuring safe operating procedures.
With strong interface from lab manager, supervises 3-6 technical people to complete subjects.
Operates under moderate to limited supervision.
Full working contacts with other functions (mfg., mktg., suppliers, customers.)
May supervise and appraise up to four lower level professionals/technicians.
Flooring coating experiences preferential.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES/CAPABILITIES/WORK ENVIRONMENT: (Please use bulleted list. Consider things like stations, temperature - indoors, outdoors; noise level, vibration, exposures, work surfaces, mobility, lifting, etc.)
Employee is required to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. on occasion. May assist with handling drums of material excess of 100 lbs.
Employee will spend approximately 20% of the day sitting, 30% standing, 40% walking and 10% stooping, climbing and kneeling.
Employee is required to tint paint, therefore, must have good color perception.
Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.

Position location within the organization (Identify title this position reports to, other positions reporting to same title, positions reporting to this position). Attach an organizational position location chart if necessary.
This position may report to group leader/manager/scientist.
This position may supervisor technicians.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: (List any other requirements including education level, years of experience, etc. These are objective in nature)
Bachelor’s Degree/Masters Degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Ability to work all scheduled hours as needed.
If usage of employee’s own vehicle is required, employee must obtain appropriate insurance as defined by Corporate Policy.
