DESCRIPTION
Licensing and enforcement of intellectual property (IP) is of strategic importance to Honeywell. Key growth elements of the licensing business involves identification of revenue generating IP asset licensing opportunities that leverage Honeywell technologies, patents, trademarks/service marks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The incumbent is expected to manage Honeywell’s IP portfolio in alignment with the company’s strategic goals, to lead/ assist in activities for IP revenue generation within Honeywell International Inc. and supports the pursuits of licensing opportunities through every step in the licensing process. Integrative thinking and building trust with business and functional leaders will be essential for the Business Development Manager to be successful.
- A successful candidate is expected to initiate, develop, negotiate and close licensing projects for Honeywell in China
- Execute IP Campaigns on targeted industrial segments and company profiles; prioritize licensing opportunities base on research results and formulate licensing strategy for each campaign
- Develop management level relationships with potential licensees, brokers and government entities to facilitate deal development and negation process and ensure overall goals and objectives are met
- Deal pipeline management: follow up and track licensing opportunities uncovered from IP campaigns, technology seminars and marketing events
- Participate in regional Trade Shows and Marketing Events by providing local logistical support and booth service.
- Work with Honeywell Licensing professionals to launch marketing campaigns to generate near term revenue and create long term growth opportunities.
- Prioritize opportunities and co-ordinate with Honeywell’s global licensing team to determine the value & approach for identified opportunities.
- Conduct continuous review of Honeywell’s IP & work closely with HIPI licensing professional personnel to uncover opportunities within portfolio.
- Perform cross-SBG portfolio categorization and refinement to support China and Asia Pacific based licensing deal executions
- Support, coordinate & conduct follow-through activities with potential licensees.
- Participate with HIPI and SBG licensing professionals in building a sustainable pipeline of licensing opportunities to meet business objectives and AOP targets.
- Participate with HIPI licensing professionals in negotiation process and, assist in converting prospects into closed commercial deals.
- Commit to and consistently execute operating processes that are aligned with the Business vision and operating model.
- Travel (20-30%) for customer visits, tradeshows, etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration; MBA would be an added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years technical marketing, product development or business development experience
- Strong integrative thinking skills and goal oriented
- An effective communicator and presenter
- Fluent spoken and written Mandarin & English
- Ability to travel
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior deal negotiation experience; a proven track record would be highly desirable
- Adopts an entrepreneurial and proactive approach in seeking business opportunities
- Comfortable in a matrix environment with a record of influencing key individuals.
- Acts with a strong sense of urgency and knowledge on how to overcome obstacles to get things done in a timely fashion.
- Experience in Project Management
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Highly motivated and self-confident
- Capable of dealing with abstract and intangible assets while managing multiple priorities
- Significant and relevant experiences in working with companies in China and Asia Pacific.
- Experience working in a multinational corporate environment.
