Job’s Objective

Assist Category Manager to organize and push category management. Be responsible for performance of whole category and directive sub-category.

Duties & responsibilities:

1. Support the Category Manager in managing the product range in line with company policy, budgets, product quality and pricing and profit requirements.

2. Support the Category Manager with the development of a supply base strategy to drive product group performance, negotiating supplier deals, prices, rebates for all locally sourced ranges.

3. Deliver analytical information on pricing, ranging and competitor issues

4. Manage and negotiate with suppliers

5. Support the Category Manager in the implementation of the specified category’s strategic business plan

6. Identify opportunities to grow sales, margin and profits

7. Assistant Category Manager role would manage a small product portfolio (taking complete responsibility for driving sales and margin) from within the specified category.

8. Provide focal communication point for vendors and head office functions for day to day issues/enquires relating to the product area

9. General administrative duties including maintaining vendor files, product administration, monthly turnover figures, contact details, customer/store liaison, co-ordination of promotions, submitting nominations and obtaining samples, etc.

10. Monitor competitor activity, promotions/comparisons

Job knowledge/skill:

1. Some experience of buying cycle required

3. Able to assess and interpret data

4. Must have passion for product

5. Proven communicator

6. Have knowledge of product market

7. Good communication and presentation
