Job Overview:
The Factory Mechanical Product Engineer (Factory MPE) is a product knowledgeable, factory-centric, EMS-provided engineer. As an integral part of a Cisco MPE team (reports to a specific MPE manager), this individual helps launch and sustain Cisco products by performing a range of factory-facing NPI and sustaining tasks.
Education and Experience Requirements:
? BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
? 5 or more years experience in electronics industry (networking products or comparable)
? Manufacturing experience mandatory; design experience highly desirable
General Requirements
Required Skills:
? Proficient engineering application skills through proper understanding and formal training of basic mechanical principles.
? Able to demonstrate problem solving skills and root cause analysis.
? Effective people and interpersonal skills to be able to work with engineering and manufacturing team members in a concurrent environment.
? Efficient organization and multi-tasking skills to manage various projects simultaneously.
? Process and quality oriented.
? Understand and able to create engineering drawings with the proper standards and principles.
? Effective communication skills.
? Proficient in various computer software tools such as Excel, MS Word, Power Point, and flow chart programs.
? Experience or education in sheet metal and/or plastics technology.
? Familiar with manufacturing documents (BOM, Assembly Drawings, Deviations, ECOs, etc)
? Strong team player who can handle multiple projects and priorities with little direction from manager
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
? Can work effectively under extreme time pressure (for example, determining root cause and corrective actions required to lift a linestop)
? Can train and mentor team members on products and manufacturing practices.
? May travel to Cisco design centers as needed for on-the-job training

Specialized Skills:
? DFx (cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, assembly, etc..) knowledge
? Familiar with Cisco BOM structure and other mfg documents and can write deviations and ECOs (engineering change orders).
? Six Sigma training, industrial/commercial/consumer product design experiences are a plus.
? Experienced and proficient with CAD applications such as Pro-E and/or IDEAS/SDRC.
? Can identify cost reduction and value engineering opportunities and assist with implementation.
? Knows testing methodology and process for 2nd source component qualifications and MCNs
