Job Overview:
The Factory Electrical Product Engineer (Factory EPE) is a product knowledgeable, PCBA factory-centric, EMS-provided engineer. As an integral part of a Cisco EPE team (reports to a specific EPE manager), this individual helps launch and sustain Cisco products by performing a range of factory-facing NPI and sustaining tasks.
Education and Experience Requirements
? BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
? 5 or more years experience in electronics industry (networking products or comparable)
? Design and manufacturing experience highly desirable
General Requirements - Required
? Understands system hardware architecture, design concepts, and engineering development practices (networking products or comparable).
? Hands-on debug and root cause analysis capability
? Robust problem solving skills and failure analysis capability
? Familiar with manufacturing documents (BOM, Assembly Dwgs, Deviations, ECOs, Schematics, etc)
? Strong team player who can handle multiple projects and priorities with little direction from manager
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
? Can work effectively under extreme time pressure (for example, determining root cause and corrective actions required to lift a linestop)
? Can train and mentor team members on products and manufacturing practices.
? May travel to Cisco design centers as needed for on-the-job training and/or proto support
General Requirements - Desired
? Experience and understanding of PCB fabrication process and technology
? Excellent understanding of the end-to-end PCBA process (experience with SnPb and Pb-free processes)
Specialized Skills
? Test and bring-up of prototype boards (complex networking products)
? Can use various diagnostic tools to debug and troubleshoot systems down to board level components
? DFx (cost, quality, reliability, manufacturability, assembly, etc..) knowledge
? Familiar with Cisco BOM structure, PCAMAPs, and other mfg documents and can write deviations and ECOs (engineering change orders).
? Provide product technical expertise to defect reduction teams (DRT) to support continually improvements in product yields and quality.
? Can identify cost reduction and value engineering opportunities and assist with implementation.
? Knows testing methodology and process for 2nd source component qualifications and MCNs
