Job Description and Qualifications
Purpose
The position is to provide leadership in technical area, under the direction of E&I leader, in the instrument and telecom engineering design execution of assigned projects. The primary goals are the achievement of project instrument design completion on time, within budgets, meeting the satisfaction of customer and at acceptable levels of quality, without compromising safety or reliability.
Nature and Scope
The job holder is the Senior Instrument Design Engineer of GEO Shanghai Office and reports directly to E&I team leader functionally and Detail Design Manager for administration. He/She is responsible for designing assigned projects and achieving project goals in support of the business areas. Individual projects are based on customer, J.V or internal requirements which have been authorized by the relevant business management. He/She assumes ownership of design budget (man hours), schedule and technical quality in order to deliver the design objectives established at the start of the project.
Typical design scope of work:
In general, scope will include PDE proposal estimation support, instrument equipment( panels, truck scales, telecom facilities, etc.) specification & sizing, material selection, in-house design, producing design drawings directly or supervising a design sub-contractor to do so, reviewing of supplier's drawings, performing FAT, construction site technical support services and localization activities support.
As a senior engineer, he is required to make L4 instrument project schedule and attend project L3 schedule review meeting. Also attending design review meeting , communication and interface with other functional groups are part of his scope.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
? Be responsible for his/her own safety, always to report near misses( design, construction, workplace) and potential safety hazards to supervisor or EH&S system.
? Ensure that he/she has had a safety pre-trip briefing when visiting any site for the first time, always has correct PPE.
? Must know the safety training associated with the job and hold a safety passport and carry it when on company business.
? Obey " Code of Conduct".
? Provide specialist technical input to the project development and project execution phases.
? Conduct instrument, telecom, fire alarm design of assigned projects. Prepare design drawing packages and associated documentation after project kicked off.
? Execute design work as assigned in accordance with the PDEP process and meet or exceed required design schedule, budget and quality, including DHR, design verification/approval, MOC, document control, Design Completion Statement etc activities.
? Contribute expertise on instrument team infrastructure building, such as process map developing, standard translation, standard study and lessons learning.
? Direct less senior persons and more involve in design strategy development.
? Resolve major technical issues with support of instrument community.
? Review and approve the work of others.
? Any other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
? 10+ years experience in Instrument/ Controls Design for Gas, Chemical or Petrochemical related industry with Design institute or engineering company.
? BS degree in Instrument/ Controls Engineering
? Fluent in oral and written English
? Be able to work in a team environment
? Be able to travel to site as required
? Be able to prepare technical documents, drawings and specification
? Owns the Intools design experience
? Skillful in drawing, calculation and design with AutoCAD, Mastering Microstation is a plus
? Well understand China local Inst/Controls engineering design code and familiar with industry Inst/Controls engineering standard and code
