Role Summary/Purpose

Essential Responsibilities

• Primary Technical Interface with Suppliers and work closely with various division of GE Power and water on the following: o Conduct First Piece Qualification/Pilot qualification o Validate the Eng. Change implement in Suppliers o Drive Continuous Process Improvements (Evaluation & Qualifications), Conduct Product/Process Surveillance Audits with suppliers and drive root-cause analyses, corrective actions and process improvements to reduce the Number of Defects and Cost of Quality, develop project quality lesson learned and improvement ideas, Lead and verify the Corrective Action implementation for non-conforming materials. o Be Communication Interface with Pole/COE/Eng./M&PE/Pole SQE’s o Initial Supplier Screening (QS/WP/EHS) o Developing Standard and Inspection Test Plans customized to meet Customer needs (when required) o Developing Project inspection programs, Monitoring Suppliers’ actual quality performance, On time project quality execution, Managing and expediting Suppliers to stick on the project schedule and delivery plan. • Aid in supplier approval process -manufacturing, technology, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) risk analysis. • Drive continuous improvement of supplier’s quality, cycle, and delivery performance. • Work closely with GE Energy Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Engineering to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may effect quality and delivery requirements. • Perform consistency and adherence to Global Sourcing procedures and requirements

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (preferably mechanical engineering) with a minimum five years of vendor quality experience • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and interact with customers and suppliers on a technical level. • Must work well in a fast paced environment (pressure resilient)• Must work well in a global and cross functional team environment • Effectively direct and assist all personnel involved with special projects.• Self-starter• Able to coordinate quality project activities also interacting with external resources• Willing to travel in/outside countries (travel/office ratio about 30%)• Expertise in fabrication techniques, distortion control, fixturing and positioning of weldments • Expertise in weld inspections, measurement equipment and calibration and associated codes i.e. ASME, CE, etc.• Experience in weld procedure qualification for CS, SS, low/high alloy materials• Experience with basic NDT methods according to ASNT/EN standards • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and be able to effectively communicate drawing requirements into practical applications• Lean Six Sigma Training or Experience. • Knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems• Knowledge and understanding of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
