The Lab Technician Vacuum Infusion (Contractor) is accountable for daily lab operations to support conversions of various market requirements into composite solutions. This role works on installations and commissioning of assigned lab capability, and composite fabrications to support new application developments. The incumbent will also be expected to work closely with Asia Pacific Science & Technology Center (ATC) Material Characterizations Lab to ensure high quality and effective composite sample testing.

  

 

  

The successful candidate must have a good understanding of fiber reinforced polymer material systems and hands on experiences with composite processing technologies, such as filament winding, pultrusion, resin vacuum infusion, spray up etc.  

  

 

  

This position will be located at Asia Pacific Science & Technology Center (ATC) in Yuhang, Hangzhou.

  

 

  

The position reports to the ATC Mechanical Testing  Lab Supervisor.

1. Executes Vacuum Infusion Lab Daily Operation

  

• Ensures the commissioning of lab capability for ATC opening (equipment installations and establishment of SOPs)

• Becomes the master on assigned composite processing technology and continuously improve operation quality and efficiency;

• Fabricates product prototypes and conducts field evaluations using OC materials

• Performs laboratory and application testing and applies understanding of standardized test methods to effectively test products

• Documents technical work, analyzes data, and produces reports for internal or external communication

• Execute lab work in a timely and accurate manner according to business priority

• Perform maintenance activities of lab equipments to ensure effective operation.

1. Provides Technical Support on Application Development Projects/Wind Energy Market

  

• Fully understands project technical requirement for the development of materials or systems to increase customer satisfaction.

• Applies expertise in product performance to adequately support development projects and initiatives

• Balances multiple assignments across individual or multiple projects

• Works effectively across regional technical organizations (ATC/CTSO) to ensure project success

Job Requirements

    

Experiences:

  

• 1~2 years experience in FRP industry product/ Wind Energy Market and process development, production, or quality assurance role is a plus, fresh graduate could be accepted.

• Installation, operation, and maintenance of composite fabrication equipments, filament winding, resin vacuum infusion, spray up, or other related technologies

• Safety management of composite R&D lab

• Chemicals handling following local and company policy

• Hands on experience on thermosetting resin and glass fiber reinforcements

• Conduct R&D activities following company Standard Operation Procedure or Work Procedure, feedback for improvement

• Communication with internal or external technical or quality partners

   

  

Knowledge and Abilities:

  

• Diploma is required, preferably in Chemical/Composite science or engineering.
• Knowledge on thermosetting resin systems including epoxy, unsaturated polyester, vinyl ester etc., and good knowledge in fiber reinforcement will be necessary
• Knowledge on Wind Energy Market will be a plus
• Experiences on COMPOSITECAD or similar software will be a plus
• A working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) required
• Mechanical, hands-on aptitude is needed
• Communication in English is required
