Objectives

of the function:

Looking for Senior Embedded Software Engineer, Software & Connected Solutions to take responsibilities on new digital products and services.

- Design Controller, Sensor Kits, Remote Alarm and/or Monitoring systems for Elevators

- Development of IoT edge device/gateway and connectivity solutions for Elevators and Escalators

- Sustainance and maintenance of Legacy Products

- Field technical issue troubleshooting and problem solving

Main tasks:

(Responsibilities)

1) Specify, design, implement, and verify of embedded software components using modern design principles

2) Maintain, extend, and refactor existing components

3) Understand hardware schematic designs as necessary for software & hardware integration and design

4) Investigation of defects reported by testing or customers and structured problem solving

5) Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define and align vision and identify requirements for APIs

6) Develop, maintain, and document a set of private and public APIs that are used by Schindler or third-party developers

7) Interact with product owners and design teams in terms of software architectural decisions (cloud, mobile app, embedded software, network communication)

8) Collaborate with team colleagues locally and Globally (Switzerland) for reviews and design alignments

9) Ensure high standard of software quality by performing code reviews as well as manual and automated unit and integration tests

10) Ensure code compliance to applicable standards

11) Ensure Cyber Security compliance (e.g., IEC 62443)

12) Other tasks assigned by Line Manager

Education:

(Qualifications)

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Control / Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering, or equivalent software development

- Master’s degree is a plus

Professional experience:

in developing and maintaining embedded software solutions in C/C++. Knows and applies state-of-the-art software engineering practices.

2) Is used to collaborate in an international, distributed environment with changing priorities

3) Preferably experienced in RTOS and Linux for embedded systems

4) Technical leadership and ownership for embedded software development

5) Proficient in software architecture and design, unit testing, and scripting.

6) Used to work with software development tools such as Git and JIRA

7) Self-motivated and self-organized, highly responsible and reliable team player, good analytical skills and open minded for new technologies. Agile development using Scrum/Kanban.

8) Knowledge of telecommunications systems is a plus

9) Experience in designing and managing RESTful APIs and Web Services, cloud-based infrastructures is plus

Languages:

- English: Good level of Listening/Speaking & Writing Skill

- Mandarin: Excellent

Professional skills:

- Knowledge of Microcontrollers such as ARM/DSP or similar

- Target environments: RTOS, Linux (Debian, Yocto),

- Languages/Programming: C/C++, .NET, Python ,( C# is nice to have)

- Knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript is a plus

- Networking: TCP/IP, UDP, SSH, Software Defined Networking

- Field communication: RS485/RS232 based, Modbus, CANOpen

- Cellular Solution Development: Freeswitch or other CODEC packages, SLIC management, VoIP, VoLTE, 4G/5G technologies

Preferences:

- Industrial IoT experience strongly preferred (especially elevators and escalators)

- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving skills

- Verbal and written communication skills
