Purpose & general responsibilities of the position:


The candidate is offered a challenging opportunity to become a key player in driving the Lean Rollout within Damco. In light of the new global strategy, Damco has revamped the continuous improvement drive with support from Top Management and there are high expectations for LEAN/6sigma (L6S) to become the way we work from 2011 onwards. By rooting out waste from our processes, we aim to create room for the company to achieve the objective of doubling the business by 2014.

The PRE BPI manager is responsible for the rollout of BPI (Lean/6sigma) ways of working in all the PRE branches, Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen and Nanjing. This scope also includes the CFS facilities.



Specific responsibilities of the position:


To be an enabler for the organization to continuously optimize the Damco business system for the benefit of our customers, shareholders and employees.
To develop and execute the strategy to implement Lean tools and methods in the operation teams and integrate them in daily management.
To coach and lead a team to make them capable change agents
To identify change agents in different sites’ operational teams and train them in the usage and practice of different L6S tools (DAMIC, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, A3, Gemba walks, Control Charts, Waste Identification…)
To host workshops and training activities for the branch employees.
To establish Visual Management Systems to allow bringing problem to surface and drive accountability in the operational teams.
In close contact with stakeholders, lead, facilitate and follow up local improvements projects.
To participate in global Improvement forum together with BPI agents in other branches in North Asia, in the regional office and in Center Headquarters to rollout the BPI strategy.

Specific requirements for the position:

Essential:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
Green Belt/ Black Belt certified
Proven experience on L6S transformations
Minimum of 3years experience on Lean/6 sigma related functions
Strong presentation skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skill in both Chinese & English
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to influence others

Preferred:
Strong operational background ant thorough understanding of business drivers
5 years working experience in the Logistics industry

Can travel as required by business needs

Measurement / success criteria of the position:

Roll out of Visual Management System on different teams

Coordination of improvement projects across functions
