Wintel Engineer - Junior

Job Description

The junior engineer position is primarily to facilitate the other engineers in the team performing server builds and associated documentation and administrative tasks, and any other functions required by the senior engineers. The Junior Engineer will be responsible for all the base build work and requests for projects to be completed. At the other end of the project process the QA submission and remediation work will also be completed by the Junior Engineer. Additionally, the Junior Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the Convergence Build testing for Japan and reporting issues with the convergence build. The Junior Engineer will also help Senior Engineers with core engineering work where time requires it.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

The Junior Engineer role will include but is not limited to the following Level 1 duties and responsibilities:

Technical

• Administrative Tasks - e.g. Rack and Stack Requests, WhitePages Requests, Computer Account Registration, Inventory Registration (Aperture, Asset Center).
• Wintel Server Base builds e.g. Windows 2003, Windows 2008.
• Installation and Configuration of all monitoring agents (ESM, Tivoli, BMC, Legato, McAfee, ePO etc).
• Post Build QA check and remediation.
• Server Inventory Registration.
• Convergence Build Package Testing and Reporting.
• VTM remediation via IBM TPM, HP OVCM.
• Update Server Build Documentation based on any changes.
• Update Process documents as required by process changes.
• Assist the senior engineers as requested on other tasks not listed here.
• Handover to operations documentation.
• Architecture/Design documentation.
• Scripting capabilities e.g. VBscript, Perl, Javascript, Powershell etc.
• Knowledge of Database technologies esp. SQL Server.

Qualifications: Computer Science or relevant other computing degree.

Certifications: Any relevant certifications are preferred.
