POSITION SUMMARY:

Plan, direct, and monitor all procurement activities so that the goods, materials, supplies, and services the organization buys meet its standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. Scope of responsibility up to $100 million USD. 

    

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

•  Establish and implement strategies for negotiating commodity purchase agreements based on in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets for optimum pricing and terms.  Manage and lead efforts on cost savings initiatives in line with a profit plan and overall business objectives.   
• Lead negotiation for the assigned portfolio of spending categories.  Usage of cost models to validate commodity strategies and to understand significant cost drivers.  Acquire and maintain understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps.
• Manage supply base by establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all of procurement to ensure total cost.  Mitigate price increases and find alternate supply base.
•     Act as project manager (develop, manage and implement) for cross functional teams to build stakeholder alignment (Technical, R&D, Sales & Marketing, Regional and local teams, etc.) to meet objectives.

    

REQUIRED SKILLS:

    

• 5 + years of progressive purchasing experience in automotive industry
• Minimum of BA/BS Degree with a business and/or technical major
• Experience as a change agent in an organization
• Analytical and project management skills
• Ability to travel up to 50% of time
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate across functional and multicultural lines. Good English verbal and written skills.
• Collaboration and influence management skills
• Demonstrated business acumen
• Strong proficiency with all Microsoft and MRP/Supply Chain systems
• Preference will be given to candidates with past experience purchasing metal parts with manufacture process of stamping, machining, forging or cold forming
