Responsibility
? Supervise Lab Personnel in general testing area that includes germination and other tests. Hire, train, and assist employees. Insure employees are provided with proper and safe working environment and that appropriate safety procedures are followed. Conduct performance evaluations for germination lab employees. May assist Lab Manager with lab technicians' compensation. Prepare lab work schedules. Assist and encourage employees learning activities.
? Schedule germination and other tests and assign work in a way to maximize efficiency and minimize costs. Interact with Research and Supply Management users to assist in developing and following schedules that will minimize backlog while meeting crucial dates for the internal customer. Must be willing to work with internal customer to provide schedules that will interface with work activities of the regional Lab customers.
? Conduct lab activities In accordance with AOSA, ISTA, ISO, Customer specifications, plans and work instructions, and any other regulatory protocol governing lab testing. Assure all testing conditions were met in the course of the test, temperature, humidity, duration etc. Maintain necessary documentation and quality records to provide evidence that ISO9002 standards, Pioneer Objectives, Plans, Procedures and Work Instructions are being followed. Assist in Internal and External Audits Continue to develop additional skills which promote lab operations as it relates to mission and vision statements.
? Communicate concerns relating to quality, testing, employee and equipment to the Lab Manager. Maintain proper check samples or standards utilized in germination testing. Assist with employee relation issues, referring to the Lab Manager or Human Resources as necessary. Provide proper documentation of appropriate employee issues. Maintain schedule and record of equipment repair and calibration. Monitor critical equipment to insure proper operation.
? Order supplies and equipment to insure that adequate supplies are maintained and available to meet testing demands. Provide for inspection of incoming product, both external and customer supplied, upon receiving and prior to usage. Monitor areas where supplies are stored to insure that supplies are maintained in an appropriate environment and condition for testing purposes.
? Provide Lab show, technical support and training to Pioneer personnel and external stakeholders as appropriate.
? Cooperate with other Pioneer labs in monitoring statistical data relating to check samples and conducting Referee tests. Provide facilities and personnel for research and experimental evaluation. Conduct quality testing utilized for product evaluation. Provide resources, initiate and assist with tests for standardization and development. May assist in purity and other testing when workload allows.
? Understand and promote Supply Management's, Supply Logistics and Quality Testing Business Plans. Provide input into developing Business Plans, goals and ISO documentation.
? Conduct all business activities with integrity and maintain high standard of professionalism.
Education:
? Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Seed Technology and/or seed germination and evaluation.
Experience:
? Minimum experience of 3 years of relevant seed testing experience and supervisory experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Computer Skills MS Office
? Seed Evaluation - seedling evaluation according to ISTA seed testing rules, physical purity and damaged evaluation, interpret quick strip test results
? Seedmanship Skills seed biology, evaluation process, concepts of seed conditioning, treating & bagging
? Laboratory Skills standard laboratory procedures and technique, planning, lab workflow, quality testing, shipment document requirements, predictive/preventative maintenance, laboratory hazards and safety practices.
? Safety Management Skills lab safety, safety programs, STOP audits
? Customer and quality orientation focus and understanding of quality and the impact of quality on customers and products

The Dow Chemical Company and DuPont have announced their intent to combine in an all-stock merger of equals. The merger is expected to take place in the third quarter of 2017 and the new company will be named DowDuPont. Within 18-24 months of the merger, DowDuPont intends to spinoff entities resulting in three separate and independent publicly traded companies, subject to regulatory and board approval. At the time of the spin, employees will be moved to one of the three companies.
